Ever been cheated on? Then Matthew Koma’s song “Kisses Back” is your new anthem.

Matthew Koma released stripped, black and white visual for an acoustic rendition of his recently-released single “Kisses Back.” Watch:

Matthew Koma’s head-spinning music video for “Kisses Back” is a retro throwback that will make you question whether you’re going backwards or forwards in time.

In the indie-inspired clip, a pair of girls have seemingly lost their minds – mouthing bananas, falling face-first onto an olive-colored couch and reverse smearing lipstick on their face, and it’s a downward spiral from there.

Producer Steve James, who is a contributing collaborator on Koma’s forthcoming album as well as a credited producer on Justin Bieber’s massive Purpose record, transformed Koma’s new song into something ferocious.

James kept the essence of the original, but injected angry beats into the seething THE song about getting cheated on and depending on yourself to pick up the pieces.

If you’re still reeling from a tragic breakup, give this a spin:

Ever been cheated on? Then Matthew Koma’s song “Kisses Back” is your new anthem.

Koma has lent his songwriting talents to a number of pop music veterans, including Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Ryan Tedder, Hilary Duff and Carly Rae Jepsen. He’s currently co-producing material for Shania Twain’s new record, but the 29-year-old is turning the attention back onto himself with his new release “Kisses Back,” the first taste from his forthcoming album.

“‘Kisses Back’ is a really accurate introduction to the most personal album I’ve ever written,” Koma tells BreatheHeavy of his new material. “I got to collaborate with some of my favorite producers like flux pavilion, Louis the child, Jai Wolf, Grey, Steve James… and felt really challenged to dig deeper than I ever have to find truth and identity past songs people have heard me on before.”

The “So F**kin’ Romantic” singer’s dreamy voice floats over an electro-tinged beat as he laments about a demolished love.

I’m takin’ all my kisses back from you
And every breath you held on to
I’m takin’ all my kisses back from you
Give me the hello’s and goodbyes
And pack up every morning and goodnight
I want the sunrises and moons
I’m takin’ all my kisses back

“‘Kisses Back” is a song about infidelity and the desperation you feel in the moments of trying to cope,” Koma adds. “I think we’ve all had a moment of that sort of truth.”
