Mariah Carey’s fed up on new song “GTFO.”
The singer released the first taste of her new album today (her actual first single is titled “With You” and drops Oct. 5, though I’m not really sure what that means).
At first glance, “GFTO” is a soft and breathy slow jam disguised as a love song (thanks to frequent Drake producer, Nineteen85), but the lyrics are anything but.
On it, Mariah urges a SO to “go stay at your friends house… or something.”
“How about you get the f–k out? / How about you take your things and be on your merry way?,” she sings. “Fly off with a wink, bye bye, baby / How about you scusea me baby let me call your valet.”
“I wanted to give my fans and everyone a first listen that wasn’t so serious,” Mariah said in a statement. “I’ve had so much fun making this album, and I wanted the first moment to reflect that light-hearted spirit.”
“GTFO” is Mariah’s first official release off her imprint label, Butterfly MC Records. The music video for the track drops on Friday (see a preview below).
Mimi also released a video for the track. In it, Mariah lounges around a house that is certainly not one of her many mansions in lingerie.
