A win’s a win.
Mariah Carey was on a mission to get her holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” to #1. Welp, mission accomplished! 25 years after its release, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” officially hit No. 1. Better yet, it topped the charts for three weeks straight AND broke a huge Spotify streaming record.
Because the song stayed put at the top going into the new decade, Mariah became the first person ever to have a No. 1 song in four different decades: the ’90s, ’00s, ’10s & ’20s. But that’s not the only record she broke…
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” became the first song in history to drop off the Hot 100 from #1. Christmas over, Mariah over.
Prior to the plummet, “Christmas” became the most-streamed song on Spotify in one day ever on Christmas Eve, amassing more than 12 million streams.
She re-released the music video with new footage, re-released her Xmas album, Merry Christmas, as a deluxe edition and stars in a holiday campaign for Crisps. There’s also a Joseph Kahn-directed video.
