A win’s a win.

Mariah Carey was on a mission to get her holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” to #1. Welp, mission accomplished! 25 years after its release, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” officially hit No. 1. Better yet, it topped the charts for three weeks straight AND broke a huge Spotify streaming record.

Because the song stayed put at the top going into the new decade, Mariah became the first person ever to have a No. 1 song in four different decades: the ’90s, ’00s, ’10s & ’20s. But that’s not the only record she broke…

โ€œAll I Want For Christmas Is Youโ€ became the first song in history to drop off the Hot 100 from #1. Christmas over, Mariah over.

Prior to the plummet, “Christmas” became the most-streamed song on Spotify in one day ever on Christmas Eve, amassing more than 12 million streams.

She re-released the music video with new footage, re-released her Xmas album, Merry Christmas, as a deluxe edition and stars in a holiday campaign for Crisps. There’s also a Joseph Kahn-directed video.

  1. Sadly I don’t live in the US so I can’t contribute to her numbers. But I am here for this. I support anyone who KNOWS and loves Britney motherfrocking Spears.

Guys if you will, just make a playlist of AIWFCIY and include ‘My Only With (This Year)’ and have those 2 songs on repeat for the entire month. Thank you.๐Ÿ’‹

  2. YASSS!!! Mariah now joins Britney as the only female artists that debuted in the 20th century to have a solo number one single on the Hot 100. #legends #whenwillyourfaves

    1. I forgot to put “this decade”. I don’t know why I missed that.

I’m so happy for Mariah cause she’s been so nice to Britney. She deserves good things to happen to her. โค

  3. Great news! And before Christmas ๐Ÿ™‚ What’s funny is that she made a new video for it and it isn’t even out yet and there was no need for it hah
PS: Now I want her 20th Number 1, I’m greedy like that. And I bet she is too.
(Honestly? Just so we have a round number haha)

  4. Yasss!!! Now we need a “Oh Santa (I Know You’re Kinda Busy with Your Elves Right Now Edition)” music video!!! ๐ŸŽ„โค๐Ÿ’š It deserves the same success as AIWFCIY.

      1. Not impossible. She still has some impact to the older gens now and her status in pop culture makes her name at least (perhaps Toxic/BOMT too) relevant to some of the younger/dominant setters of pop culture trends. I can only see this happening in tho a collab and we all know her collabs are historically weak (exceptions for her own songs: MATM, Boys) or they’re potentially great songs ruined by their producers (I’ll never forgive for what Scream & Shout could’ve been).

        1. Exactly!!! She still has a lot of cultural impact to get a number one. As evidenced in both Glory singles charting on the Hot 100 and ‘Make Me…’ even getting platinum status. Also, her last 2 lead singles being top 20 hits. I mean, compared to (and this is not shade) Xtina. It’s gonna be tough. But not for Britney. And i’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. Happy New Year, Jeffers! ๐ŸŽ‰

    1. I don’t think Billboard counts Sonny & Cher. I mean like they mention it all the time tho on all articles regarding this topic but its like an asterisk situation so its a cop out. Happy New Year, Dzemil! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’‹

      1. Yeah theyโ€™ve been mentioning Cherโ€™s name for decades, but now that Mariah has a number one as a solo artist Cher donโ€™t matter anymore. Lol

        Anyways …

Happy New Year to you as well! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. And i donโ€™t really see it as an easy one to break actually…cause most songs arenโ€™t going to have that much of a drastic drop. Hey one more for the records book tho right? ๐Ÿค“

    2. It makes sense, though: the track got to number 1 in the first place because it’s basically Christmas summed up in a song, but when the season is over people stop listening to it.

  5. Her next 10 #1 songs will probably be AIWFCIY for Christmas for the next 10 years. So sheโ€™s gonna have another #1 in the 5th decade. Lol

No new songs by her its gonna go to number #1 again.
