Mandy Moore come through! Last year, the singer/actress promised she’d make a return to music in 2018, and she’s making good on that.
Mandy posted a photo from inside a recording studio.
“Getting back to it. It’s time. I miss it. I’m not scared anymore. No more excuses,” she wrote.
“No more allowing someone’s else insecurities to dictate my relationship to music and singing. Boom. Also- this is just a little demo of something @themikeviola and I worked on yesterday… but still, it’s a start!” Mike Viola is a Grammy-nominated producer.
V V exciting! It’s a bummer we’re still so far away from new tunes if Mandy is still in the recording stages, but we’ve waited this long… what’s another few months.
Mandy Moore has as a campy horror film out right now titled 47 Meters Down. The premise? Her and her sister are vacationing in Mexico when they get trapped in a cage at the bottom of the ocean. They have less than an hour of oxygen left and sharks are circling nearby. Commercially, it tanked, but that’s OK because Mandy is already plotting her next move. The pop star-turned-actress is threatening to release new music(!!!).
“I want to return to music,” Moore tells People. “I don’t have a record label, but I have a lot of music written. Next year, I’ve decided I’m putting it out there!”
That’s extremely exciting considering “Candy” was a life anthem for countless prepubescent gay kids back in the day. A.K.A. me. But don’t get your hopes up just yet. In 2015, Mandy claimed she had plans to release new tunes in 2016. “I’ve been working on music steadily for the last couple of years,” she said at the time. “I guess 2016 will be the re-emergence of my music. That side of my life has been dormant for too long in my opinion. I have a new zest for what I want to sing about… I don’t know how that’s going to manifest itself necessarily, but I’m excited to figure it out.”
