Madonna's "Rebel Heart" Hacker Sent To Prison

There’s a price to pay for stealing the Queen of pop’s hard work.

The Israeli hacker by the name of Adi Lederman was sentenced by Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (July 9) to 14 months in prison for hacking into Madonna’s computer and stealing demos from her latest record then selling and distributing them, reports the Jerusalem Post.

According to a statement issued by Lahav 433 (the county’s version of the FBI) earlier this year, the suspect “broke into the personal computers of several international artists over the past few months and stole promotional final-cut singles which have yet to be released and traded them online for a fee.” It added: “In light of the findings of the investigation the unit collaborated closely with the FBI, with suspicion of even more break-ins to computers owned by unknown international artists, stealing and selling their works.”

Though Madonna or her reps failed to comment on the recent win, she told fans several months ago she’s pleased with the outcome of the arrest.

“I am profoundly grateful to the FBI, the Israeli Police investigators and anyone else who helped lead to the arrest of this hacker.” she sadid. “I deeply appreciate my fans who have provided us with pertinent information and continue to do so regarding leaks of my music. Like any citizen, I have the right to privacy. This invasion into my life – creatively, professionally, and personally remains a deeply devastating and hurtful experience, as it must be for all artists who are victims of this type of crime.”

She told Billboard in December they are extra careful how they proceed here on out.

“Well, we don’t put things up on servers anymore. Everything we work on, if we work on computers, we’re not on WiFi, we’re not on the Internet, we don’t work in a way where anybody can access the information. Hard drives of music are hand-carried to people. We don’t leave music laying around. We have photo shoots or video shoots, and everyone has to leave their phone at the door. I mean, unfortunately, it *****, but that’s the way it is. That’s how leaks happen.”

Steal from Madonna and get sent to jail, it’s that simple. Why? Cause *****, she’s Madonna.
