Luminous! Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj Premiere Pharrell-Produced Track “The Light Is Coming”: Listen
“Side To Side’s” sister.
Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj unleashed their new song “The Light Is Coming.”
In case you’ve been living under a very large rock, Ariana and Nicki have taken over pop music.
They have a new music video for their Queen collab “Bed” on the way, but before we get soaking wet, the two have a track off Ari’s forthcoming record, Sweetener. It’s titled “The Light Is Coming,” “Side To Side’s” summer sister.
On the Pharrell Williams-produced track, Ari chirps a repetitive chorus over quirky production and an uptempo, Neptunes-style beat. It’s infectious! “The light is coming to give back everything the darkness stole,” Ari sings. “You wouldn’t let anybody speak for this today.”
As for Nicki’s part, she goes in the way Nicki does. “Trophy wife, aw, you won me / Until you had to find out it’s one me / Now you benched, aw, you’re bum knee / Now / I’m the bad guy, call me Chun-Li (ooh) / ‘Cause you was slippin’, yep, you clumsy / And everything I peep, can’t just unsee.”
I know everything is a song of the summer contender these days, but this ish is lit. Listen:
