“Solo” works as an electro-bop or a sugary acoustic ditty.
Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato dropped an acoustic version of “Solo.”
UPDATE // JUNE 15:
“Solo” is one of my song of the summer contenders, but the acoustic version of the track is equally impressive. It shines a light on the song’s pretty sad lyrics, hidden by a blast of beats and production gymnastics in the original. I also appreciate how they stripped out the “f— f— f—” for the actual word.
“Solo” works as an electro-bop or a sugary acoustic ditty. It just goes to show how great of a track it is.
EARLIER // MAY 31:
“Solo” is one of my song of the summer contenders, but the video sparkly video is something else.
In it, front-woman Grace Chatto is seen in a toxic relationship – her boyfriend is yelling at her and throwing things.
She’s scared, but it inspires her to take action. So, does she find the strength to pack up her things and go? That would make the most sense, right? Instead, Chatto cruises down to her local chemistry lab disguised as a laundromat where she meets up with her bandmates to pick up a magical pill that can turn her vicious lover into a rainbow puppy dog. I’m not high are you?
Meanwhile, Demi is like, ‘I’m too busy touring right now to be a part of this storyline,’ so her she sits on a couch and sings.
Have I convinced you to watch this?
