Lorde covers a classic.

Lorde covers a classic.

It’s been four years since Lorde took alt-pop by storm with her debut Pure Heroine, and we’re still waiting (impatiently) for her new record. “I made a very deliberate choice to withdraw for a little while from a public life,” she wrote on her birthday last month.

The new music is on the way.

“I want nothing more than to spill my guts RIGHT NOW about the whole thing – I want you to see the album cover, pore over the lyrics (the best I’ve written in my life), touch the merch, experience the live show. I can hardly stop myself from typing out the name,” she continued. “I just need to keep working a while longer to make it as good as it can be. You’ll have to hold on. The big day is not tomorrow, or even next month realistically, but soon. I know you understand.”

She added: “The party is about to start. I am about to show you the new world.”

Our RSVP is already in the mail, so while we sit tight for Lorde to plan her next move, thumb through a few fan-filmed videos of her singing Robyn’s “Hang With Me” at the Ally Coalition Talent Show at New York City’s Webster Hall last night (Dec. 12). The event was organized by producer Jack Antonoff’s organization which supports homeless LGBTQ youth.

Also, Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lauren Mayberry & Jack Antonoff joined Lorde on stage to sing/shout over one another.
