Lorde calls out Kanye West for using a similar-looking suspended stage.
Lorde has a bone to pick with Kanye. She took to Instagram to put the rapper on blast for using a suspended stage that looked almost identical to one she used on her Melodrama Tour and at last year’s Coachella.
Kanye and Kid Cudi used it at their Kids See Ghosts performance at Camp Flog Gnaw in Los Angeles on Sunday.
“I’m proud of the work I do and it’s flattering when other artists feel inspired by it, to the extent that they choose to try it on themselves,” Lorde said in a caption on one of the images.
“But don’t steal – not from women or from anyone else – not in 2018 or ever.”
Lorde loves Kanye, so it’s a little puzzling why she’d publicly call him out like this. During her Melodrama Tour stop in Chicago, she covered “Love Lockdown” & “Runaway” and told the audience: “It must be nice to come from the same place as Kanye West.”
My thoughts? This is low-key embarrassing for Lorde. I think we can all agree it looks similar, and that it’s appreciated when an artist credits another when credit’s due, but sis… it’s a stage prop. It should have been discussed privately… and this is coming from someone who hasn’t been Team Kanye since 2016.

Lorde calls out Kanye West for stealing her box stage idea: A few hours ago, controversy arose when Kanye West and Kid Cudi performed on a floating stage, a replica of Lorde’s – a female artist’s – North American Tour staple.
