“Self destruction.”

Sam Smith says “Burning” is his favorite track off the singer’s forthcoming album, The Thrill Of It All.

It must be scary AF to sing about your personal life and then put that vulnerability on display for millions of people. I give Sam major props for that. He says his new track, “Burning,” is “the most personal song I’ve ever written in my life.” He revealed the inspiration came from a breakup, and judging from the sadness in his voice, the pain is evident.

“I’ve been burning/ Such a burden, this flame on my chest,” he sings over a dreary piano melody. “No insurance to pay for the damage/ Yeah, I’ve been burning up since you left.”
