Turn up your Friday with new songs from some of music’s biggest DJs.
■ Avicii (real name Tim Berling) surprised fans with the announcement of his new album title, Stories (out Friday, Oct. 2), and premiered two songs from it titled “For A Better Day” featuring Alex Ebert and “Pure Grinding.”
The upcoming album features 14 songs, with contributions from Matisyahu, Wyclef Jean, Zak Abel, Gavin DeGraw, Zac Brown and others (to be announced).
“All the songs have a story I wanted to tell,” says the 2x Grammy-nominated producer/ songwriter/DJ. Bergling says the album “refines what I didn’t feel was perfect last time. I think there are more layers to the songs than before, and every song has been written on acoustic guitar, so the structure is different.”
He tells Billboard, “I had a lot of freedom to explore new sounds on Stories.”
“For A Better Day” is an inspiring, piano-stomping tune that’s features slick vocals from singer-songwriter Alex Ebert, who’s the lead singer for Ima Robot Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
“Pure Grinding” is another fresh release for the DJ. Guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer Kristoffer Fogelmark lends his talents on the song, as does Earl St. Clair (Machine Gun Kelly).
■ Calvin Harris enlisted help from DJ Snake for a stomping remix of his latest single, “How Deep Is Your Love.” Listen here:
