A sad day.

A sad day.

Rumors ran rampant this week following a report from the NY Daily News that Britney’s team held secret meeting with TV execs to negotiate a deal for the pop star to headline next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. It sounded so promising, and buzz began to build in just a day. Wendy Williams was gabbing about it on her talk show – shockingly, she was down for it. It also received a thumbs up from New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Even Britney said she’d be down for it, but unfortunately it’s a no-go.

Pepsi’s senior director of sports marketing, Justin Toman, was asked in a press conference today who would perform at the Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis next February. He wouldn’t confirm a name, but slammed any notion that the princess of pop was in the running.

“I can tell you it’s not Britney,” he said. “That rumor happens at this time every year.”

Well, damn. Usually the rumor thrives for a lot longer.
