“God Bless America” is an F-U to Trump.
The Lightness Of Being Lana Del Rey.
That’s what ELLE UK are exploring in their June issue with the dreamy Lana Del Rey posing on the cover.
The ethereal songstress looks absolutely beautiful in the photos, shot by Thomas White Side, in an array of looks both in-studio and out in a rose garden.
In one shot she dons a huge fur coat over a black mesh dress and in another she holds a designer dress over her body, because when you’re Lana you don’t need to even put the dress on for a photo shoot.
Talking about her ideal man, Del Rey says, “For me, the dream is to have a little bit of edge, the sexiness, the magnetism, the camaraderie, be on the same page and all that stuff.”
Plus, she tells the political inspiration behind “God Bless America”, a song that will appear on her upcoming album “Lust For Life”:
“I wrote God Bless America before the Women’s Marches, but I could tell they were going to happen… I realised a lot of women were nervous about some of the bills that might get passed that would directly affect them. So yes, it’s a direct response in anticipation of what I thought would happen, and what did happen.”
The issue hits stands on Tuesday (May 16) but until then check out the pics up top.
