His album is still on the way.

Kid Cudi announces rehab stint with brave post to fans.

Earlier today the rapper shared a brutally honest and emotional post on his Facebook page revealing he checked himself into rehab yesterday (Oct 4) “for depression and suicidal urges.”

Saying he’s been “living a lie”, the 32-year-old has said “it is something I have to do for myself, my family, my best friend/daughter and all of you, my fans.”

The revelation has surprised some fans considering the rapper has carved his name in hip-hop with material that has consistently been praised for its emotional honesty and openness.

While the conversation on mental health has progressed considerably in recent years its discussion is still considered taboo and weak in many circles of society, which makes Kid Cudi’s admirable move even more courageous.

His sixth LP “Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin‘” is due out this month after its planned release date of September 30 was delayed due to last minute issues with sample clearances, and the rapper confirms it’ll still be released.

“I won’t be around to promote much, but the good folks at Republic and my manager Dennis will inform you about upcoming releases. The music videos, album release date etc. The album is still on the way. Promise. I wanted to square away all the business before I got here so I could focus on my recovery.”

“I deserve to have peace.” Yes you do – we wish you well, Cudi.
