It appears Katy Perry is working on new music with producer Ian Kirkpatrick.

UPDATE // MARCH 9:

Ian Kirkpatrick confirmed he’s working with Katy Perry on her new album. The producer tells The Fader what it’s like collaborating with the pop star and gives a tiny bit of insight into one of the songs they wrote together. Heads up: lots of F-bombs.

“Katy Perry and I had a session,” he said. “We did a couple of days and she is f—ing amazing. Before any of her artistry, Katy Perry as a person is the funniest human being I’ve ever met in my life. I was so surprised.”

He added: “I was very nervous to meet her because she’s f—ing Katy Perry, someone I’ve wanted to work with my whole f—ing life, and she was literally the most normal, no-ego person. And she’s a f—ing great writer, too. I should have known that, I guess, but that was so much fun. We wrote a f—ing awesome song.”

EARLIER // FEBRUARY 13:

The same day Katy wrapped the first leg of her Witness Tour, the singer was spotted with the hitmaker. Sort of. Kirkpatrick posted an Insta-story with Katy’s dog named Nugget, so we’re assuming:

1.) Katy was nearby and

2.) Their time together was to record new music.

Those are a couple of huge assumptions, but the timing does make sense.

Katy will likely record new music any chance she can during her time off from touring and in between American Idol commitments.

It’s best we move on from Witness (says me), and Katy could be doing so with the producer who’s crafted some seriously big pop songs over the years, including Dua Lipa’s “New Rules,” Selena Gomez’s “Bad Liar,” Jason Derulo’s “Want To Want Me” and Britney’s Glory tracks, “Hard to Forget Ya” and “If I’m Dancing.”
