Kanye West To Receive Video Vanguard Award At VMA’s

They’re also announcing more performers today.

MTV announced Kanye West is set to receive the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s VMA’s.

Antics aside, Kanye West is one of music’s greatest frontrunners, and he’ll be rewarded at this year’s Video Music Awards with the honor, previously given to Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce.

Yeezus has more than earned this honor, after years of releasing groundbreaking music and accompanying videos that have always pushed the envelope. From “Through the Wire,” to “Runaway” and “Bound 2,” his creative depths have never ceased to amaze us, and some could argue that his videos are complete masterpieces in their own right.

MTV also posted silloheettes of this year’s upcoming performers, claiming they’ll confirm names later this afternoon (Tuesday, Aug. 25).
