Something nobody wanted.

Justin Timberlake will honor Prince at the Super Bowl.

Fans were hoping they’d see Janet Jackson and/or *NSYNC reunite with Justin Timberlake during the Super Bowl Halftime Show at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Sunday, but JT confirmed in a press conference that’s a no-go, but there IS a special guest. Sort of.

According to TMZ, JT will perform with a Prince hologram, honoring the late musician in his hometown.

As Pitchfork points out, Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson last April first mentioned the idea of it last April.

This makes sense. Timberlake held a listening party for his new album, Man of the Woods at Prince’s iconic Paisley Park compound last month. He also channels the iconic singer on several songs off the record and has mentioned him in several recent interviews.

  1. Why is it bad that he would honor Prince? I’m not getting the shade here. Price was great, the event is in his hometown, and JT has clearly been influenced by’s a great idea! Hope it happens!
