I’m a JT stan, but watching him squirm through his explanation of the Janet x Super Bowl controversy in his new interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe is just cringey.

Us Weekly teased a bit of their interview together ahead of its full premiere on Thursday (Jan. 18).

Lowe lists out the many, many things Justin has lined up for us, including… oh yeah, THE SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW. Naturally, his first performance came up. Lowe asked if he talked to Janet about it afterward.

“Naturally, that’s something we talked about,” JT said. “To be honest, it wasn’t too much of a conversation. It’s just one of those things where you go, like, ‘Yeah, what do you want me to say? We’re not going to do that again!’”

WAIT. He just said, “we’re not going to do that again.” Did JT just low-key confirm Janet’s presence at the Super Bowl, too?!

“I stumbled through it, to be quite honest,” Timberlake reflected. “I had my wires crossed, and it’s just something that you have to look back on and go, like, ‘OK, well, you know, you can’t change what’s happened but you can move forward and learn from it.’”

And have they made peace with one another? “Absolutely,” he said. “And I don’t know that a lot of people know that. I don’t think it’s my job to do that because you value the relationships that you do have with people.”

It sounds like Justin wants us to believe the stunt was a legitimate ~wardrobe malfunction.~ Unless he slipped and caught his fall on the part of Janet’s costume that covers her breast during the part of his song that says, “gonna have you naked by the end of this song,” there’s no way that was an accident. Own it, JT!
