Is Justin Timberlake crafting that country record Timbaland promised?

Country record still on?

Last November, producer Timbaland, who’s had a heavy hand in all of Justin Timberlake’s solo efforts since 2002’s Justified, told fans via in a live stream chat he and Justin had plans to make a country record. Tim made the statement following Timberlake’s well-received performance of “Drink You Away” with country superstar Chris Stapleton at the Country Music Awards last year which helped rocket the song up the charts. In 2013, JT said of the track, “It’s a country song to me.”

Cut to Sunday night (March 20), and Timberlake is sharing a behind-the-scenes look at his studio session with Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman. He captioned the pic: “NBD… Just writing with @littlebigtown This band is the truth!! So good!!!!”

Perhaps the country record Tim hinted at is a go, or maybe JT’s collaborating with Little Big Town on an upcoming song for DreamWorks’ Trolls film, which Timberlake is executive producing.

JT also shared a recent snap of him and Pharrell working together in the studio, so either it’s the trendiest country record ever in the making, or the Trolls movie is getting a star-studded soundtrack.
