Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton Rock Out In The “Say Something” Music Video

The Arturo Perez-directed one-take(!!!) clip begins with JT pressing buttons – not in the way he usually does – he’s literally co-creating the Timbaland x Danja-produced song right before our very eyes.

The camera follows JT around a low-lit theater where he picks up a guitar and takes a lift up to the second floor to meet Stapleton and a large group of backup singers for the rest of the tune.

“Say something, but I don’t wanna get caught up in the middle of it,” they duet over a country-tinged guitar melody. “Though I can’t help myself / Maybe I’m looking for something I can’t have.”

“Say Something” is the kind of song I pictured when JT first teased Man of the Woods; it’s airy and stripped. Don’t get me wrong… I’m always here for Timbaland’s production gymnastics, but this direction is refreshing.

Now that’s something good at last…
…but like every JT song, it’s very long and the sound/rhythm/vibe is squeezed to the max, so I never feel like listening to his music more than a few times…
And the video is undoubtedly original and refreshing to watch, but it’s him I’m watching, so I’ll only be providing him with one view on YouTube.
