“AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE.”

Justin Bieber said he’d release his new album before Christmas if his Instagram post received 20 million likes. Several weeks have passed since, and there’s only 11 million likes in total. Despite failing to reach his goal, Bieber is staying par for the course.

The Purpose singer is filming a new music video in Los Angeles, and he invited drag queen The Fame to appear in it, however she turned it down. The Fame explained Bieber is only ponying up $500 for her cameo, which doesn’t even cover the cost of transportation to fly from NYC, let alone her time.

There’s an even larger discussion to keep in mind here – queer artists are not commodities, and our time is just as valuable as anyone else’s.

“If you want to involve LGBTQIA+ Artist in a JB music videos, I suggest respectable compensation/rate for their (mine) time & talent,” she said.

“We deserve to build our lives from our artistry, as Justin has accumulated net worth of $265 million. It’s the least you could do. I can’t pay my rent off of the ‘honor’ or ‘experience.'”

She added: “You do not have permission to tokenize my talent, my queerness is not a trend. My time is valuable as is yours. Resepct people and celebrate what they contribute. If you request my services, pay my rate. I have bills to pay.”

Needless to say, The Fame declined.

Check out the screenshots below. The first image was Team Bieber’s request for The Fame to appear. The two after are her responses.

Some wonder… is Bieber pandering the gays? Or does he actually want to represent the LGBTQ community? What do YOU think? Let us know in the comments.

  1. Wow, I cannot believe the disrespect and unprofessionalism from Bieber’s team… hey, from Bieber himself, he’s the boss after all, isn’t he? Yes, he is.
The Fame is truly a fantastic artist, and super talented and hard-working. Her make-up and hair alone for one gig must cost $500, no kidding. And she’s right about EVERYTHING she said, and she did good in exposing it, just like Taylor did with her own situation of artistic abuse… FROM THE SAME TEAM, BASICALLY.
And omg they said “her back is Violet Chachki,” which is the epitome of drag perfection. They are delusional if they think they can take advantage of them. There’s no way Violet will accept either.
