Did Julia Michaels just drop the best line of a song in 2018?

“They say all good boys go to heaven, but bad boys bring heaven to you.”

Did Julia Michaels just drop the best line of a song in 2018? The singer-songwriter’s moody new MNEK and Tayla Parx co-written mid-tempo off the Fifth Shades Freed soundtrack is refreshingly honest. Face it: we all love a bad boy.

“You don’t realise the power they have / Until they leave you and you want them back,” Julia sings over starry production and frigid background vocals. It’s very cinematic. “Nothing in this world prepares you for that / I’m not a sinner / He wasn’t the one / Had no idea what we would become / There’s no regrets / I just thought it was fun.”

“Heaven” is one of two songs Michaels has featured on the film’s upcoming soundtrack.

The singer will perform a medley of this and “Issues” on Late Show With Stephen Colbert today (Jan. 26).
