Julia Michaels’ ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ Soundtrack Song “Are You” Is A Lot Of Fun

Julia Michaels delivers a delicious pop gem with “Are You.”

Julia gave salty and sweet to the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack (out today).

Her first release, “Heaven,” was an ode to the bad boy. It featured the singer’s breathy coos over a dripping beat. Quite serious. But her second song, “Are You,” is a guilty pleasure.

This time, Julia isn’t interested in a heartbreaker. She’d rather spend her time free-falling into love.

“Hold onto my heartbeat like you mean it / ‘Cause there’s something too real to let it slide,” she chirps over Mattman & Robin’s sugary beat. The lyrics were co-written by Julia and frequent collaborator, Justin Tranter.

“If you gotta go, we can achieve it / You better believe it, so do I / I don’t need your words to get me goin’ / Let your body language set the tone / Save all your emotions for the motion / Don’t make me go at this alone.”

“Are You” sounds like a cut from the Nervous System cloth, and I’m not mad at it. Give it a spin below:
