“I wanna be up there with the Celine Dions, the Whitneys, the Beyoncés and Arethas.”
It’s the “one of the” that lands Jessie J in hot water.
Jessie J is in the dangerzone in the blogosphere after opening up about how she’s perceived between the U.K. and the states, namely that she wishes her home recognized her more talents and accomplishments more than across the pond. Jessie took issue with the Brit Awards for receiving few nominations over the years (just two: one for British Female Solo Artist in 2012 and another in 2014).
“It makes me sad,” she told Women’s Health magazine. “I’ve done the Grammys, the VMAs… my profile in America is that I’m kind of celebrated as one of the greatest singers and I love it.”
Jessie also aspires to be like many of the greats. “I wanna be up there with the Celine Dions, the Whitneys, the Beyoncés and Arethas,” she added. “I go hard because I hope and pray that one day, people look back and go, ‘She could really ******* sing, you know.’ Which is why I keep going.”
We don’t dispute Jessie’s talent – she’s fantastic. Just please never say that again. X
