JAY-Z lead the pack with the most nominations at the 2018 Grammys, yet he walked away empty handed.

It’s safe to say Beyonce and JAY-Z will join the likes of Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, Drake and Justin Bieber, all of whom reportedly felt snubbed by the Grammys and are no longer making appearances.

Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran And More: Here Are The Winners Of The 2018 Grammys

In 2017, Beyonce famously lost to Adele in the Album of the Year category. Even Adele felt the Recording Academy made a huge mistake. It almost seemed like 2018 would set things right. JAY received nominations in eight categories, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year – all of which he lost to Bruno Mars. Kendrick Lamar bested him in the remaining categories, including Best Rap Performance, Best Rap/Sung Performance, Best Rap Album and Best Music Video. What’s the deal?

It’s worth mentioning Rihanna and Kanye West have also shouldered an epic snub of this magnitude. Both received eight nominations apiece at last year’s show and neither one took home a trophy.

It wasn’t a total loss for JAY-Z, however. The rapper was honored with a lifetime achievement award at Clive Davis’ gala on Saturday. Still, it doesn’t add up.

By no means was 4:44 JAY’s best work of his career, but it’s social and political overtones carried important and far-reaching messages for listeners, and in today’s crippling culture, it doesn’t feel right that the lighthearted 24K Magic should sweep.
