Jason Derulo’s runs from love in the ’80s-sounding song, “Cheyenne.”
Jason Derulo’s new song, “Cheyenne,” takes a page from the ’80s synth vibe everyone’s trying.
We can thank Taylor Swift for the resurgence of songs sampling ’80s themes. Derulo’s new song from his upcoming album, “4,” perfectly echoes the trend using pulsating beats and keyboards behind his high-pitch vocals. The “Wiggle” singer’s classic falsetto rings loud as he resists falling in love with the mysterious and troublesome Cheyenne.
“All I ever wanted was some fun / I never meant to fall in love”
Derulo’s track is a stellar performance with major potential to rocket on radio because it’s unique sound is unfamiliar enough to the commercialized Top 40, but recognizable in that it sounds a bit like something Michael Jackson would attempt.
