The Internet’s got Janet’s back.

The Internet’s got Janet’s back.

The pop star released a statement on Saturday (Feb. 3) denying the rumor she would join Justin Timberlake on stage at the Super Bowl.

“To put to rest any speculation or rumors as to whether I will be performing at the Super Bowl tomorrow: I will not,” she wrote in a note on Instagram. “Thank you for your support and I do look forward to seeing you all very soon.”

Following the wardrobe malfunction back in 2004, Janet shouldered most of the backlash and JT got off seemingly Scot-free. Fans wondered if the two would make things right, but it appears JT and Janet never communicated leading up to today’s big game. Awkward…

The Internet has decided to take Janet’s side. Heading into the Super Bowl, hashtag #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter, outperforming #SuperBowlSunday.

JT might have performed, but everyone’s talking about Janet.
