It’s been six years since we’ve heard a peep from Jamie Lynn Spears after unexpectedly getting pregnant and moving to Mississippi to raise her daughter, but she’s ready to give the whole fame thing another go with her new country EP. She sat down with E! News to open up about her music, having a baby and Hollywood.
“One day, me and my friend were riding around in my mom’s little convertible and I had not been feeling well,” Jamie Lynn says in part I of her E! interview. “I thought it was just stress with work and all kinds of different things. My friend was like, ‘Why don’t you just take a test?’ I was like, ‘OK, I will.’
“We were filling up with gas, so I went in the gas station and took the test and it was positive,” she added. “So that is the glamorous way that I found out I was going to have my little nugget!”
“There no words for what I felt,” she continued. “Ultimately, I was a young girl and was in a very blessed situation, but I was still a young girl going through my first love and making all these decisions.”
She decided to move back home and escape the spotlight in Hollywood to raise Maddie Briann who’s now five-years-old.
Since she gave birth, Jamie Lynn’s spent her off-time writing and recording country music.
“I started writing, and it was just country music that just started to come out of the stories. I started when Maddie was three months old… that’s what I’ve been doing for the past years.”
Then JL gets a little emotional during her interview when she reflects on how much time and energy she’s put into creating her music. “When you pour your heart and soul into something… seeing it all come together is emotional.”
“I think that now it’s like real. It’s like being like ‘Oh my gosh! I’m going to have a baby.’ It’s seeing it all here and it’s real,” she says of her music. “It’s like, ‘Oh my goodness, I’m really gonna do this.’ And it is; it is. It’s like my second baby.”
