It Appears Christina Aguilera Tapped Thundercat, 40 And More For New AlbumNovember 6, 2017
The who’s who.
Christina Aguilera is pulling out all the stops for her forthcoming record.
Xtina has promised her new music is “coming soon” for years. We know how that’s played out, but I think we can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. Over the weekend, Xtina said there are “new things on the horizon.” We assume she’s referring to new music, and the pop star added fuel to the fire today (Nov. 6) when she posted a photo with a star-studded music crew.
Christina captioned the pic, “family that slays together stays together.” Who’s in said fam? Grammy nominated artist Janelle Monáe, Drake producer Noah “40” Shebib (“One Dance”), Kendrick Lamar producer Thundercat (Damn), Anderson Paak, and singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas. Christina’s glam squad also made the pic. It’s not clear whether she’s working with everyone mentioned, however. The new photos are from an upcoming appearance on Lip Sync Battle.
But if she *IS* working with them, what does this mean? Possibly that some or most of Christina’s new material is hip-hop heavy. We know she’s also collaborating with songwriter Linda Perry again (“Beautiful”), who typically pens moody, acoustic music. In other words, this album is shaping up to be something quite great.
