Out in 2018.
You oughta know… Alanis Morissette is breathing new life into Jagged Little Pill by transforming it into a musical.
Jagged Little Pill is one of the most important albums of the last 30 years, and it’s getting immortalized as a musical in May 2018 when it premieres as part of the coming season at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass, the New York Times reports.
Tony-winning director Diane Paulus, the artistic director of the theater, will oversee the project. She said the album “had so much meaning in its time” and commended Alanis for being an artist “with courage and power and vulnerability.”
Diablo Cody (“Juno” and “Ricki and the Flash”) will write the book.
“The chemistry between all of us is crackling and I feel honored to be diving into these songs again, surrounded by all of this searing talent,” said Morissette in the statement, “Diablo and Diane are already taking these deeply personal songs that are part of my soul’s marrow to a whole other level of hope, freedom and complexity.”
