Iggy Azalea hasn’t had the best year – on a personal level, at least!
Amid racial tension regarding her position as rap music’s up-and-coming superstar, the Australian rapper might find herself in more hot water when she appears in court next year to defend herself against a man claiming to be her ex-husband.
A hearing set for January 7 2015, will see Azalea face off against Maurice Williams, a man she claims she only lived with temporarily while working toward her dream.
In court documents obtained by Radar, Azalea elaborated on the type of relationship the two held:
“Williams convinced me to stay by promising to furnish a vacant property he owned for me to live in. He told me I should stay with him and sleep on his couch while he arranged to furnish my place. I naively trusted him.”
Texan law considers de-facto couples married if they agree to recognize one another as husband and wife.
While Team Iggy claims the pair never considered themselves married, Team Williams has filed a divorce petition and a judge has demanded she show up in person to the upcoming deposition.
Williams demands that Azalea should be stopped from selling assets acquired during their alleged marriage, while Azalea is claiming Williams took music from her without permission, and should not be allowed to distribute it.
Let’s see what a judge decides.
