“I’m still actively looking for another female rapper who can undo the blunder of Iggy Azalea.”
T.I. did not hold back his distaste towards Australian rap queen, Iggy Azalea.
Iggy released her debut mixtape after signing with T.I.’s label, Grand Hustle, when she was a teenager. T.I. saw something in her at the time, but he’s since publicly changed his stance.
“I’m still actively looking for another female rapper who can undo the blunder of Iggy Azalea,” T.I. said on Netflix’s new hip-hop competition show, Rhythm + Flow. “That is the tarnish of my legacy as far as [being] a [music] executive is concerned. To me,this is like when Michael Jordan went to play baseball.”
We all know how that turned out. Yikes.
Rhythm + Flow, which he co-hosts with Cardi B and Chance the Rapper, features a fleet of female contestants looking to flex their rapping skills.
“There’s a lot of dope female talent right now in the industry. There’s a lot of dope female talent out there trying to get in the industry. So I think [the show is] a fair representation.”
Iggy has received a lot of backlash throughout her career for rapping with a Southern accent despite her Australian background. She also spit a few racially-charged lyrics in the beginning, and though she’s apologized, haters haven’t forgotten.
