Hilary Duff is very busy filming the new Lizzie McGuire reboot. She opened up to ET about it, including what makes Lizzie tick in 2019 and hints at appearances from Miranda and Gordo.
The interviewer, Katie Krause, asked a very important question ~because fans would kill her if she didn’t ask it~, and not a single lie was detected.
Will Hilary release new music?
I’m sorry to disappoint you, but the short answer is no. The more in depth answer is that, according to Hil, only a small group of people actually care about her tunes so it’s not really worth it.
“No new music,” Duff confirmed.
“I don’t have time for new music right now. I always feel like I’m letting… a certain small group of people who still care about my music down.”
WELL, YES. THIS IS CORRECT.
But, never say never. “It could happen,” she continued.
In a separate interview with Elle, Duff was more hopeful on the prospect of new music.
“I always get this question and I feel so bad for [being] like, ‘No, I’m not doing anything right now.’ I feel like I’m going to have a music career forever and who knows how successful it’ll be or what kind of turns it’s going to take,” she said.
“Music is such an important part of my life and has always been a big outlet for me. Having Matt [Koma, Duff’s fiancé] living at my house, I feel like I could always be like, ‘I want to make a record,’ and he’s like, ‘Oh God, okay, let’s go.’ He’s so supportive and talented. I don’t want to say never, but there’s nothing in the works right now.”
They also asked if she had a favorite song of hers.
“That’s a hard one for me. Obviously the diehards love Metamorphosis and then a lot of people are also like, ‘Breathe In. Breathe Out. was such a good record, it was so underrated.’ It’s so funny because you never know what’s going to happen. I really have amazing fans that pay attention to what I say and have stuck it out with me through a very long career.”
