Hilary Duff confirms talks about a Lizzie McGuire reboot.
If you’re reading BreatheHeavy right now, chances are Lizzie McGuire played an important role in your adolescence. No, we didn’t ever wonder what life was about from our parents, or celebrate Britney Spears with our siblings, or develop a sense of style from our friends. We turned to Lizzie McGuire for that. LIZZIE MCGUIRE ESSENTIALLY RAISED US ALL. And if we’re lucky, pre-teens in the digital age might get that same invaluable experience.
According to Hilary Duff, there has been conversation regarding a reinstatement of the Disney classic.
“There’s been some conversations,” Duff tells Entertainment Tonight. “It’s definitely not a go. I don’t want to get everyone wild talking about it.”
Little late sis.
The reboot could go one of two ways: either Disney finds another 12-year-old girl to play Lizzie 2.0, or it documents Lizzie as a 30-year-old. Can you imagine an episode where Lizzie does the walk of shame back to her West Hollywood apartment? Or has an argument with a co-worker who secretly has a crush on her at the marketing firm? Ugh soo many options, soo many ideas.
“I’m racking my brain,” Hilary said of what a 30-year-old Lizzie would be like. “I don’t think she’s a mom yet, but she might be getting there soon.”
She added: “I mean I love her so much. I think she was so important to girls at an important time in their life.
I’m not usually a fan of reboots, but this is something I could get behind. Or at the very least, a spin-off where Gordo, ex-computer science professional, and Miranda, occasional yoga instructor and candle merchant, ran off together to the Cayman Islands. Soo good.
