‘Queer Eye’ star Jonathan Van Ness (the one with the fierce long hair) is criticizing Nicki Minaj for appearing in Harper’s Bazaar Russia.

I think some times Nicki’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t, but this time I think JVN made some valid points.

He’s pointing out that Nicki, who has a large following of gay fans (dare I say the majority?), appears on a Russian magazine despite their inhumane treatment towards people in the LGBTQ community.

“Russia has anti LGBTQIA propaganda laws, Chechnya supported by Russia tortures it’s LGBTQIA citizens, & w your LGBTQ+ fans you can’t even speak to that in this interview bc it’s illegal in Russia, what’s good @NICKIMINAJ , this should’ve been a hard pass,” he wrote on Twitter.

Fans were quick to point out that other famous faces have appeared on Harper’s Bazaar Russia as well. It made no difference.

I agree with Netflix bestie. It comes off as tone deaf, and considering there are countless other magazines Nicki could have posed for… this was not the move.
