With less than two weeks until the 57th Grammy Awards, everyone seems to be talking about award predictions or who might perform, but it’s also a time to reflect on the show’s history. Producer Ken Ehrlich spoke with HitsDailyDouble about prepping for the big night, but also how he considers past performances from Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj to be two of the biggest disappointments in the show’s history. IKR. My reaction too!

After gushing about some performances that he favors, Ehrlich spoke about two numbers that he felt unsure about even before they went live on air. Not only did he confess that he was “not proud” of what the show did with Nicki Minaj’s “Roman’s Holiday” in 2012, the legendary show producer also slammed Britney’s 2000 medley of “From the Bottom of My Broken Heart” and “…Baby One More Time.”
We did a thing I don’t know how many years ago called ‘Britney’s Incredible Dream’ when Britney was the biggest thing in the business. I thought I had to book her. We did this thing where it opened up with her in a bed as a little girl. Then she did, I don’t remember what song it was, ‘Baby One More Time.’ I thought that was a mistake.”
Ehrlich said that there’s a ton more performances that fall in the middle and “dozens near the top,” but those numbers by Britney and Nicki always come to mind when anyone asks him that question. In case your memory is a little rough, take a few moments to relive their performances below.
Well, Ehrlich, you know what? We were pretty damn disappointed when this happened too. Mmmmkay?
