FKA twigs returns with the best visual of 2019.

The singer’s mystifying new video for “Cellophane,” her first official release since 2016’s “Good To Love,” deserves your undivided attention. It begins with an intimate, seductive pole dance where the only one in the audience is… you.

Her toned body slinks up and down the apparatus with complete control. It’s a craft twigs says she’s practiced for over a year just for this clip.

“When I wrote cellophane over a year ago a visual narrative came to me immediately, I knew I had to learn how to pole-dance to bring it to life, and so that’s what I did,” twigs said in a statement. She also thanked the video’s director, Bjӧrk collaborator Andrew Thomas Huang.

Huang’s magic touch shines brightest when the sky opens up and a fictional, bejeweled creature with twigs’ face on it presents itself. She’s becomes transfixed by the deity, who sends her down a glorious vortex to an underworld where she’s met by masked woman that smother her in lush mud.

The immersive video’s concept is also a nod to twigs’ road to recovery. Last May, the singer revealed she had six fibroid tumors removed from her uterus. “Thank you precious body for healing, thank you for reminding me to be kind to myself, you are a wonderful thing, now go create and be other once again.”
