Fergie did that.

The pop star is making headlines today for an impromptu speech she gave at the TrevorLIVE Gala in L.A.

Actor Armie Hammer was presenting fashion designer Tom Ford with an award at the star-studded fundraiser for the Trevor Project, and the singer felt compelled to jump on stage and say a few words – even singing a bit of Double Dutchess track “A Little Work!”

In a recent interview with BreatheHeavy, Fergie opens up about the track. Read that here.

The moment took the audience by surprise, and unfortunately has already become Internet troll gold. People described it as “awkward” and “uncomfortable,” but reps for Fergie stepped in to clear the air. It was just a poorly-timed joke! “It was a gag that everyone at the table came up with that fell flat due to timing,” they said.

The Internet started speculating the worst, because that’s what the Internet does, but her reps also assured People there’s nothing dark and ominous going on. “She’s happy and healthy,” her rep said.

Fergie graciously granted BreatheHeavy an interview last month. In it, she kept things real: “I’ve learned to follow where my universe is taking me, and also I pray (this is not for me to tell people what to do, this is just my story). I meditate, I just try to do everything with love even though sometimes things are hard. Even devastating to me, she said. “I’m a firm believer in going, ‘OK, pick yourself back up, let yourself grieve, then let it go, let it into the Earth, and figure it out.’ Move forward.”

Everyone has those days. Watch below:
