Zayn’s new album is nearly done, but first… a Beyonce cover.

Last week, the former One Direction member told Beats 1’s host Zane Lowe his new album is “very like, under wraps at the minute.”

“I’m trying to keep it as mysterious as possible but there’s a plan with the roll out,” Malik said. “It’s going to be different to I think anything anyone has done before, I don’t think has done it this way. So it’s going to be interesting to see how the audience react to this kind of release but wanted to try something different. And I think it’s all going to make sense in the end when the album finally drops.”

He added, “there is there is an album title,” Z confirmed. “I’ve got the whole concept and everything done, yeah.”

But before fans get the goods, Zayn is offering a taste.

He recorded a cover of Beyonce’s song, “Me, Myself &is I,” off the pop star’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love.

It’s an interesting choice –  I suspect he recorded it in between his breakup and rekindling with girlfriend Gigi Hadid; this song is the ultimate breakup anthem. I’m not thrilled with Zayn’s rendition, but props for putting it out there anyway.
