Fans are upset TLC launched a Kickstarter, took their money, and delayed the promised album.

It pays to be a TLC fan.

Beginning in January, T-Boz and Chili of TLC urged fans to donate towards their $150,000 target goal on Kickstarter to fund their fifth and final album. The duo opted out of label support, so their fans stepped in and helped the ladies reach their goal and then some. They ended up amassing $430,000 with a $5,000 donation from Katy Perry.

They promised an album towards the end of 2015, but on Sunday (Nov. 1), they updated their Kickstarter page with a message saying it won’t drop now until 2016.

“After seeing and greeting so many of you on our tour this summer, we took a short break and now we are in the studio recording our new album with Ron Fair, coming out in 2016. The music is coming out great and it’s only with your support of TLC on Kickstarter that this is possible. We thank you and promise that we will continue rolling out all the Kickstarter prizes except the album by mid-October. We are moving the album back to 2016, so that we will have more time to finish the record the TLC way. Thanks as always for your love and support and we can’t wait to deliver a new record and tour next year.”

As a result, fans took to Twitter Sunday night to trend the hashtag #TLCisGoingToJailParty, and the reaction is hilarious.
