  1. Initially slated for release back in March but delayed due to the pandemic, British pop band Steps dropped their new single “What the Future Holds” last Monday. It’s the lead single from their upcoming sixth studio album of the same name. The music video for the track dropped on Friday and has been receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The song, penned by none other than Sia, topped the UK iTunes chart within an hour of its release, with the album pre-order following suit by the following day. Best known for their fan-friendly dance routines (hence the name Steps) and hits such as “Tragedy,” “One For Sorrow,” “Deeper Shade of Blue,” and the line-dancing classic “5, 6, 7, 8,” the band, who were a huge staple in European pop music back in the late 90’s and early 00’s (and even toured with Britney) made a huge comeback in 2017 for their 20th anniversary, with a sell-out UK tour and comeback album “Tears on the Dancefloor.” “What the Future Holds” has been three years in the making and is set to be a continuation of their last album, utilising their established sound and bringing it into 2020. It sees them reunite with writers such as Fiona Bevan (One Direction, Lewis Capaldi), Ina Wroldsen (Shakira, Britney Spears) and Karl Twigg (who worked on their first three albums) plus experiment with songs written by the likes of Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beyonce), Hannah Robinson (Kylie) and new pop shape-shifters such as Gracey and MNEK. The album drops November 27th and you can pre-order it here via their official store. There are various bundles across a variety of formats including signed CDs, pink vinyl and cassette tape (how very 90's). Watch the video for “What the Future Holds” below and stream on Spotify! I've also posted "The Best of Steps" playlist for anyone who maybe isn't familiar with their back catalogue of bops.
  2. Originally scheduled to be released back in May, this Friday (July 31st) marks the release of Alanis Morissette's ninth studio album, "Such Pretty Forks in the Road,” through Epiphany Music and Thirty Tigers in North America, and by RCA and Sony Music in the United Kingdom and Europe. It's been eight years since her last studio effort, in which time Alanis has been raising a family, hosting her own podcast series “Conversation with Alanis Morissette," adapting her 5x Grammy-winning breakthrough album, "Jagged Little Pill" into a broadway musical and, for the last three years, juggling all of that with writing and recording this album. Never afraid to tackle delicate or unsettling subject matter in her music, "Such Pretty Forks in the Road" is both raw and haunting at times. The album is a brutally honest exploration of addiction, anxiety, betrayal, insomnia, motherhood and postpartum depression all weaved together like pieces of a home-stitched tapestry. Alanis worked with just two producers on this album, Alex Hope and Catherine Marks, which has resulted in a very coherent collection of 11 songs that truly feel introspective and intimate. Stand-out tracks like “Smiling,” "Diagnosis," and "Reckoning" see Alanis lament with a profound openness and unapologetic frankness, while showcasing the capabilities of her ever-recognisable voice, now with a mature and worldly-wise edge. You can order a physical copy of the album on CD, Vinyl or Special Collector's Box from Amazon and it’s available to buy digitally or listen to on streaming services from midnight tonight, your time, wherever you are in the world. Stream below + please comment as you listen, folks! PS: Since this is the first time I’ve done an “album review” here, let me know what you think and if you’d like to see me contribute more content like this on Exhale, thanks.
  3. How is everyone doing during this crazy Quarantine life we have been living? I have been pretty good today, but some days I have had incredibly bad anxiety. Cold sweats, being simultaneously too hot and too cold. My mind would run wild and sabotage my sleep. I’ve never wanted to consider medication out of fear of addiction, which is something I have battled in the past. It got so bad though that I was about to check myself in somewhere. The only thing I found solace in was THC/CBD Tincture. It’s not to get high off of, but without it I literally start shaking because my nerves are basically shot. And the scary thing is, absolutely nothing is “wrong”, I’m safe, I have a place to live, some money saved in the bank, bills paid, food, entertainment (Netflix, Hulu etc), but I would literally start going crazy almost daily for about a month until very recently when I started taking Tincture. People say it’s the planets moving into retrograde. People say it’s because I’m a ♋️ cancer and I’m highly emotional. Some say it’s coming into my “powers” of being an empath, especially with everything going on in the world it’s like.... overload. I just wanted to check in with you all, I hope nobody is feeling how I can get to feeling lately, but if you are I hope you find SOME kind of comfort from knowing you aren’t alone. ❤️ I have been watching Haters back Off with Miranda Sings on Netflix. Absolutely ridiculous, but ridiculously funny. It definitely helped pull me out of a funk if you need something light and funny to watch. The opening scenes should be enough to put a smile on your face. I’ve started to crochet again, something simple to quickly occupy my mind. Headphones really help a lot! They fill your head with sound, which can drown out a lot of the negativity your brain might be trying to throw at you, a couple of my favorite podcasts are What’s The T with Rupaul and Michelle Visage. Over 200 episodes, great witty banter, great guests, great advice. Another is Boulet Brothers Creatures of the Night, Drag, Filth, Horror, Glamour.... the fabulous Swanthula and Dracmorda Boulet bring true horror stories from our history, movie reviews and fun guests, it’s a new one, so there are only a few episodes so far, but its something you can keep up with from the start! What are you doing to stay sane? Any advice for me? Do you need any advice? Let’s all work on being more kind to one another, that’s something the world is lacking.
  4. Did anybody else catch the first episode of Canada’s Drag Race tonight? If you are in an area with BBC 3 you can see it on Thursday nights. If you live in the U.S. you can watch it on the Wow Presents Plus app. Yes, it’s another subscription service, but it’s one I recommend if you are a fan of drag race. Lots of original content featuring many of the queens from the show. You can also watch Drag Race UK here. And it’s probably the cheapest subscription service you can get, like $3.99/month. If you did watch the show, what do you think? I think it was a cute Idea to have a different Panel, I kinda missed Ru, but Brooklyn did a good job. Overall I was not disappointed and the lip sync was really good for being the first episode.
  5. Pop Crave on Twitter are claiming Britneys Manager confirmed in Vogue magazine that she's releasing new music on June 29th. I don't know how reliable they are if even but it's "News" I suppose. Twitter @poporave. Thoughts??
  6. What if Britney is going to release ‘Sorry Adam’ the femme fatale demo from 2011 ? One of my favourite unreleased demos. There’s plenty of apple mentions in that song, true? I’ve not logged onto here in such a long time but the demo just played on my phone and I was like...okay apples. How would you feel if a 2011 demo was released 7 years later? She’s probably not going to release a thing and I’ll never look at a Apple the same way again.
  7. is release something thats sound like a "Havana" rip off! I was very dissappointed with Pretty Girls because it was a copy (not nearly as good) version of "Fancy". It's very lame when singers (especially older ones who are trying to get a hit again) copy current hits. It can be uptempo, trap pop, house whatever is in now but it must sound original and fresh
  8. While we wait for new music let's rank an album... I was always interested on how different everyone tastes on songs are especially with this album... tell me your ranking! I did a video for it.
  9. Hello everyone! If anyone is interested I have created my own ranking of songs per albums! I have only uploaded the first album so far but I have ranked all of them. I want to see if people are interested so that I upload the rest albums! I tried to find pictures from photoshoots she did at the time each album came out so that every picture would fit the song. So it's also a great display of her amazing photoshoots she had done throughout the years! If you find it interesting and worthy please let me know at the comments on the video so I would proceed with the other albums and also tell me your own ranking at the comments! I want to upload all of the albums, I just need to know there are people who will look out for them. Thank youuuuuu .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs3AoxQgzg4
  10. I'm from the UK and we have such a close connection with Britney from the beginning. For some people seeing her interviews and promo work will really help with the UK audience. They will see how great she shines again and will fall in love stronger than before. Can't wait for some more UK promo. She is on form and this album deserves at least 5 singles.
  11. ok so lets see what we have from the new video because its not all that bad.. Pros: - Britney looks GORGEOUS - she looks sexy and fierce in the solo scenes and her outfits are on point -she is BACK for real now (body wise, confidence wise) Cons: -the cheap product placement ruins the video even more - the scrapped concept of the original video thus making a new video that is so mainstream its just like every other basic mv out there -her team and britneys artistry have dropped really low if they were the ones who had this idea of redoing the video -the screencap that they used for the album cover but then again after all that i am hoping that they release the original video even as a bonus or smth and really show what britney is capable to do and how far she takes it
