  1. Lorde is releasing a book titled Going South about her trip to Antarctica. She penned a letter about it, which you can read below. The book sold out in 10 minutes She's reportedly releasing new music in the spring of 2021. Exhale, LORDE. She also sent out an email:
  2. It's been 84 years since we've had a new Lorde album in our hands, but the Kiwi singer says it's coming... in 2021. She hinted at the news on Instagram. Get ready for that December 31, 2021 release Related:
  3. Melodrama was and still is a great body of work, but short lived. Why is she taking these long breaks though? Long story short, do you even care about her at this point?
  4. What’s up, Exhalers! I was trying to compile lyric lines that truly touch me and make something creative to hang in my bedroom wall. Then I thought it’d be nice if we shared those lines that make us feel things, be it deep, funny, ironic... you name it Here are some I love: “But we’re the greatest, they’ll hang us in the Louvre, down the back, but who cares, still the Louvre” (Lorde, The Louvre) ”Love is a ruthless game, unless you play it good and right” (Taylor Swift, State of Grace) ”Maybe you’re not even human, ‘cause only an angel could be so unusual” (The Legendary Ms. Britney Spears, Unusual You) ”And when the hardest part is over, we’ll be here, and our dreams will break the boundaries of our fears” (Brandon Flowers, Crossfire) ”Let’s go see The Killers and make out in the bleachers” (Lady Gaga, Boys Boys Boys) I have so many more. Which are yours?
  5. Both have similar style in music billie is a bit more pop ( though she hates that ) and Lorde is more indie pop. Which do u prefer ?
  6. Recently, Billie Eilish came out and stated that she would like for her music to not be referred to as pop. It got me to thinking about what “Pop” music will look like in the coming decade and who will shape the landscape and set the trends. Before I go into that I’d like to acknowledge the artists from the 2010’s that helped shape the landscape of pop music. The artists that I am focusing on are somewhat of one hit wonders nonetheless they did help curate trends and shape music during the last decade. They may no longer achieve the same success in the coming decade, but their music will be heard for generations to come. I’d also like to hear others opinions on what artists or songs you think helped shape music in the 2010’s up to what music is now. Lorde – You couldn’t go anywhere without hearing the song Royals by Lorde. Before Royals became the smash that everyone knew she had released The Love Club on Soundcloud. When Royals became a hit she released Pure Heroine which was well received and had a few more hits such Team and Tennis Court. Lorde went on to release Melodrama in 2017 but it did not receive as much hype as her first effort. Lorde has been compared to Lana Del Rey which I do see similarities but I also feel that Billie Eilish can be compared to Lorde. I’d also like to add that I feel Lorde is 2010’s version of Alanis Morrisette. One Republic – One Republic’s success ignited with the hit Apologize which came out in 2007. By the 2009 the album Waking Up came out and the hits Secrets, All the right moves and Good Life became hits in 2010. One Republic’s success carried on thru artists such as Beyonce with her hit Halo and Kelly Clarkson’s Already Gone. Their success would go even further by 2013 with the hit Counting Stars. One Republic was not only writing for some of 2010’s biggest pop stars but they also influenced bands like Fun. Who came out with hits such Some Nights & We Are Young. Additionally, Fun. Went onto write P!nks hit Just give me a reason. Along with Fun. Came bands such as The Lumineers, Lady Antebellum, Neon Trees and The Bleachers. Carly Rae Jepson – In 2012 you couldn’t escape the memes or the viral videos of Carly Rae Jepsen’s song Call me maybe. The song was infectious and the hook was joyous. Carly brought fun bubbly pop back during a time of electronica, rap and serious pop music. I would consider Call Me Maybe to be one of the biggest songs of 2010 and it’s definitely something that you can easily listen to today. I feel Carly helped pave the way for acts such as Kim Petras, Charli XCX and even Billie Eilish. Kiss was released in 2012 but it wasn’t until Carly’s E MO TION album that we got to see her shine as an artist. Tracks such as Warm Blood and I Didn’t Just Come Here to Dance keep you lingering and wanting more. Other tracks such as Your Type and Gimmie Love give you hope that Pop Music still existed at a time when R&B, Hip Hop and Electronic Bangers were the craze. In 2019 Carly released Dedicated and my heart skipped a beat, but it seemed as though no one else felt the same way. Later in that summer I went to an art show in San Francisco and an Artist performed a dance routine to Carly’s Too Much and it was then that I knew Carly may no longer be the Call Me Maybe megastar but she still inspires and releases superb pop music.
  7. On June 16 we shall remember one of the best album releases of the past decade and my fav record of 2017: Lorde's pop masterpiece Melodrama. It received rave reviews by critics and fans, and even got nominated for Album of the Year at the 2018 Grammy Awards (losing to Bruno Mars' 24K Magic). In my opinion this album really shows Lorde's talent and ability as a songwriter, composer and vocalist (shoutout to Writer in the Dark). Jack Antonoff produced with her almost every song on the tracklist and I love the fact that it sounds so cohesive. A vibrant, liberating, relatable breakup al
  8. The original Alternative teen queen Lorde speaks out in full support of the black lives matter. Also attended a peaceful Protest in new New Zealand. She's still learning how to support and be active while refraining from social media. I actually think it's smart. If you don't want to do social media. But want to let the fans that support you what's going on. Iove the idea of the email communication. This isn't a newsletter that pr sends out. This is more personal. I'm here for it.
  9. Lorde has taken a huge step back from music in recent years, but that's about to change. She says part of the struggle was coping with the demands of touring - not having a home base. She's working with Jack Antonoff on the new tunes. “I started going back to the studio again in December, just for something to do, and to my surprise, good things came out. Happy, playful things,” she wrote. “I felt my melodic muscles flexing and strengthening. Jack [Antonoff] came over to work in the studio in Auckland, and I went to LA. It flowed. A thing started to take shape. And then, of course, the world shut down.” She added: “I understand— I want nothing more than to feed you treats, pop perfect morsels straight into your little mouths,” she wrote. “But as I get older I realise there’s something to be said for the pleasant feeling of waiting for something of quality to become available to you.” Read the note below:
