  1. Kanye West announced he was running for President of the United States. He's serious. West gave an interview to Forbes about it. He opened up about a number of surprising things. I'm not even sure where to begin or what to unpack first. Below are some highlights... err, bullet points: That he’s running for president in 2020 under a new banner—the Birthday Party—with guidance from Elon Musk and an obscure vice presidential candidate he’s already chosen. “Like anything I’ve ever done in my life,” says West, “I’m doing to win.” That he no longer supports President Trump. “I am taking the red hat off, with this interview.” That he’s ok with siphoning off Black votes from the Democratic nominee, thus helping Trump. “I’m not denying it, I just told you. To say that the Black vote is Democratic is a form of racism and white supremacy.” That he’s never voted in his life. That he was sick with Covid-19 in February. That he’s suspicious of a coronavirus vaccine, terming vaccines “the mark of the beast.” That he believes “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work.” That he envisions a White House organizational model based on the secret country of Wakanda in Black Panther. 2. Kanye West announced he's running for President in 2020. It's unclear if he's joking or not, but I have a sneaking suspicion he is dead serious. "We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future," he said. "I am running for president of the United States 🇺🇸! #2020VISION" You may recall Kanye originally said he' run for President in 2024. "When I run for president in 2024, we would've created so many jobs that I'm not going to run, I'm going to walk," he said last year. It appears he's impatient. Are YOU voting for Kanye?
  3. Can we just get some recognition for Ego Death. The song slaps, Kanye raps about something other than God and Jesus and all that nonsense, and my ***** FKA twigs' part is LIT.
  4. Kanye West temped up with Travis Scott for a new song/video titled "Wash Us In The Blood." The song is grade-A Kanye. On it, Ye spits about the racial inequality ravaging the US. Heads up: the video is pretty jarring, containing graphic and violent imagery. This is the first taste off Kanye's forthcoming album, God Country. Kanye said of the track: “I was thinking of not rapping again, because I rapped for the devil so long that I didn’t even know how to rap for God. Then one of my pastors told me, ‘My son just said that he would want a rap album about Jesus from Kanye West.’ He didn’t say, ‘Kanye West, you should do this,’ or ‘you need to do this.’ He just told me something that a child said. And that one thing made the difference.” Watch it below. Thoughts on the visual, Exhale? Related:
  5. Move over, Kylie Jenner. Kim Kardashian is officially a billionaire. A real one Kanye West Tweeted the big news. Kind of tone-deaf considering what's going on in the world, but cheers Related:
  6. A Norwegian financial newspaper named Dagens Næringsliv (DN) obtained one of TIDAL's data hard drives, and if the contents on the drive are real, it revealed the streaming platform’s play-counts for two major albums from 2016 – Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Kanye West’s The Life Of Pablo – were massively inflated. DN says the hard drive contained ‘billions of rows of [internal TIDAL data]: times and song titles, user IDs and country codes.’ Tidal denies its real/accurate. It gets worse... a recent Norwegian Supreme Court Appeals Committee ruling says TIDAL has been an official suspect in a “serious data fraud investigation” by the Norwegian authorities since June 21 last year. Just an FYI, Lemonade debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 653,000 with additional album-equivalent units, including 485,000 copies in its first week of sales. So, how many copies did Lemonade really sell Regardless, it's still an immaculate body of work. Related:
  7. I can't figure Kanye out. He speaks out about things that most people wouldn't want to / think to, then stays silent on things you'd expect him to boast about. Mad props that he donated $2 million to the families and legal teams of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd without mentioning it. Unless... his team tipped off TMZ. Either way, he put his money where his mouth is and that's respect. Glad he didn't go off on a Trump tirade, too. Win win. Thoughts on Kanye's massive donation?
  8. Kanye West isn't shy about telling people what's on his mind. In his new interview with GQ, Kanye doesn't directly say he'll vote for Trump, but reading between the lines it's clear that's what he's alluding to. “Black people are controlled by emotions through the media. The media puts musicians, artists, celebrities, actors in a position to be the face of the race, that really don’t have any power and really are just working for white people…So let me say this: I am the founder of a $4 billion organization, one of the most Google-searched brands on the planet, and I will not be told who I’m gonna vote on because of my color. I’m definitely voting this time. And we know who I’m voting on.” (Kanye West didn’t vote in the 2016 election.) Black communities are the hardest hit in the country when it comes to the Coronavirus. That's because, in my opinion, the government doesn't care. Kanye voting for Trump extends this equality gap even further. Does Kanye have an obligation to vote for Biden or is his vote for Trump all good? I know America is freedom of speech and choice, but this feels irresponsible of him. Thoughts?
  9. Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift still have bad blood. The two pop culture titans are clashing once again after audio surfaced of Taylor and Kanye's infamous (secretly?) recorded phone call with one another. Read more about that here. Things took a turn for the worse when Taylor put Kim and Kanye on blast saying she was telling the truth this whole time. "Instead of answering those who are asking how I feel about the video footage that leaked, proving that I was telling the truth the whole time about that call (you know, the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family, and fans through hell for 4 years)... SWIPE UP to see what really matters," Taylor wrote on Instagram. She finished her statement with a call to action: "The World Health Organization and Feeding America are some of the organizations I've been donating to. If you have the ability to, please join me in donating during this crisis." That's what prompted Kim to speak out. Coronavirus works hard, but Kris Jenner works harder.
  10. Taylor won. Four years after Kim Kardashian shared an edited phone call between her husband Kanye West and Taylor Swift discussing his “Famous” lyrics, extended portions of the conversation were leaked online late Friday night. The convo is on Twitter. It can't be posted here due to copyright reasons, but it's easy to find on Twitter. Kanye never mentioned the term "that *****" The transcript: Source: Yahoo
