  1. On November 17, 2003, ABC aired a special called Britney: In the Zone where Britney performed some of the tracks from her fourth studio album, as well as some of her past hits. Between the performances, we saw a few clips behind the scenes where Britney talked about her music. The setlist of the show was: Toxic Breathe on Me Boys/I'm a Slave 4 U (I Got That) Boom Boom (with Ying Yang Twins) Everytime ...Baby One More Time Me Against the Music That night she was also on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, performing Me Against the Music, but can't seem to find any video not even the interview That day in the morning she also received her star on the Walk of Fame
  2. On November 12, 2003, Britney Spears released In the Zone, her fourth studio album, in the UK and Italy. It was released on November 18 in the United States. The album showed a more mature sound and image compared to her previous three records, incorporating pop, dance, hip hop, electropop and Middle Eastern influences, among other genres, and lyrically, it talks about dancing, love, *** and even mas*******n. It features collaborations with Madonna and the Ying Yang Twins. The producers that worked on this album were Bloodshy & Avant, Brian and Josh, Roy "Royalty" Hamilton, Jimmy Harry, Penelope Magnet, Moby, The Matrix, R. Kelly, Rishi Rich, Guy Sigsworth, Shep Soloman, Mark Taylor and Trixster. Britney co-wrote all but 4 songs. She started recording the album in November 2002 after her Dream Within a Dream Tour finished, being Touch of My Hand the first song she recorded, and the one that set the tone for the rest of the album. She then continued with the Everytime sessions, which she co-wrote with her backup vocalist Annet Artani (Annette Stamatelatos). Annet confirmed another song Shine which was about Britney's sister Jamie Lynn, but that song didn't make the cut. It was precisely these two songs which she mentioned on an interview for hip to be the most personal of the album for her: "I really love the vibe of “Touch of My Hand.” When I was in the studio it really came off as like such a natural process. And I love the subject that, you know, I’m touching on because no one’s really talked about some of those things in a lot of songs written lately because people are scared to go there and to express themselves in that way. And, you know, I think it’s an empowering thing for girls, you know. And “Everytime” is just a really nice song because it’s just, you know, it’s kind of personal in a weird way. I just think the song — it’s one of the songs that when you hear, it’s like the kind of song when you go to heaven. It kind of takes you away. You know, it takes you in to a very cool consciousness I think." However she also noticed that every song from the album is a representation of her in some way: "I think every song. I mean you have to go through experiences in your life and go through day-to-day things to be able to write songs and to be able to express yourself and have something to be inspired to write about. So I think every song is a representation of me and like an art form. But it’s not completely too personal. Sometimes I write about fictitious things. You know, like I’ll make up a story in my head about someone going through an issue in life and I’ll be in the studio and we’ll have chemistry with people and we’ll go from there. So I think all of the songs are a representation of me." When asked about her contributions in the lyrics and music of the album she commented: "Well the main thing — like with “Everytime” I wrote the whole thing from scratch on the piano. Musically there was no track or anything. I was just at my house and I did the whole thing by myself. And then I went and I played it for (Guy Sigmouth) and I just basically told him exactly how I wanted the song to sound. And he was so amazing because there’s a lot of producers you tell them things and they don’t get it. And you’re like oh, that’s not the right way. He got it just right. He was amazing. And so that song specifically, you know, I did everything. But as far as like, you know, the other songs I would go in to the studio and they would play me just a bunch of different tracks. And I would pick a track that I liked. And then I would basically do the melodies and the words and they would do the tracks. And like if I heard sounds here or there,in my head that thought should be there, they would elaborate on. And if they wanted streams here, and more of a baseline here they would do it. So that’s kind of how it worked. But musically, I didn’t do a lot of the tracks. That’s something that I really want to probably learn on the next album. But for the most part I did most of the melody and just the words." Four singles were released in total to promote the album: Me Against the Music, Toxic, Everytime and Outrageous. Additionally, The Onyx Hotel Tour kicked off in 2004 in order to support In the Zone. The songs that appear on the album across its different versions are Me Against the Music (featuring Madonna) (I Got That) Boom Boom (featuring Ying Yang Twins) Showdown Breathe on Me Early Mornin' Toxic Outrageous Touch of My Hand The Hook Up Shadow Brave New Girl Everytime Me Against the Music (featuring Madonna) (Rishi Rich's Desi Kulcha Remix) The Answer Don't Hang Up The album went #1 on the US Billboard 200, as well as the Mexican, French and Greek charts. It was also Top 10 in almost every country it charted. A fan favorite album, it's sold over 7M copies worldwide. In 2019, it was sold as a vinyl for the first time through Urban Outfitters. In May 2003, she had shown a little teaser for the album on MTV: Besides the televised performances, including an ABC special, she also promoted the album at nightclubs.
  3. On November 10, 2003, Queen of Pop Britney Spears performed at New York's Times Square two of her new songs to promote her upcoming album In the Zone: Me Against the Music and (I Got That) Boom Boom featuring the Ying Yang Twins, as part of TRL's Spankin New Music Week. Later that night, she attended the Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year Awards, where she received none other than the Woman of the Year Award. Not only that, but judging by the candids of that day, it seems like she also had an interview with MTV Hits that same day (was she a robot or what ) or she just dressed the same Earlier that day, she was also seen doing some shopping in New York
  4. On October 21, 2003, Britney Spears released the music video for Me Against the Music featuring Madonna. It was directed by Paul Hunter and choreographed by Kevin Tancharoen. It starts with parking a Mazda and entering a New York night club, where she's seen by Madonna through the monitors, in a room full of men smoking cigars. A cat-and-mouse like chase begins through different parts of the club, including a wooden maze (which served as inspiration for the Piece of Me performance in Vegas). As the video progresses, we also see scenes of Britney performing the choreography on various sets, including a neon-like room decorated with grafitti and the iconic scene where we see Britney and Madonna separated by a wall, but dancing in synchronicity as, according to the director, Madonna's spirit pulls her making Britney anticipate her moves. Britney finally reaches Madonna at the end of the video, only for her to disappear as we hear her laugh before Britney could kiss her. The music video premiered on MTV's Making the Video, and it was later premiered online on Yahoo! Music, where it reached more than 2 million views on its first 5 days. It landed at #36 on MTV Latin America's Top 100 of 2003.
  5. On October 14, 2003, Britney Spears released Me Against the Music, featuring Madonna, as the lead single off her fourth studio album In the Zone. It was written by Britney, Madonna, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Thabiso "Tab" Nikhereanye, Penelope Magnet, Terius Nash and Gary O'Brien and produced by Trixster and Magnet. It went Top 5 in almost every country it charted, including 5 #1's. In the US, though it hit the #1 on the Dance Club Songs chart, it only peaked at #35 on the BBH100, marking also Madonna's 50th entry on this chart, and the first time that she appeared credited as a featured artist. Its music video premiered on Making the Video on October 21, but we'll celebrate that next week. 6. Hey! I just released Everytime in 4K 60FPS, edited for copyright but mainly to make it like how Britney wanted first. This time, with its original 4:3 format after many requests! Hope you enjoy! #Remastered #Everytime #4K60FPS

  8. I have been noticing this about Britney since a very long time.Even though I became a Britney Stan in 2018 after knowing about her and her life struggles.I followed her career and her eras since very beginning! Britney literally nailed every performance she had till 2004.Before her knee injury. Then came blackout era where Britney was a little messy and a little slutty but she still had it.Remember M&M’s tour?! Even after her breakdown,The circus era too had some great performances. Britneys performances had changed during femme fatale era completely. She wasn’t there at all.I feel something odd about that era.Even during Britney jean era she wasn’t giving her full potential. But then she got back during 2015-16 around glory era. Then again in 2018 her performances were completely messy. Her moves weren’t complete. Britney said in an interview that she wanted glory to be her baby. And we all know Britney didn’t had control over femme fatale album and Britney jean album. So is it because she gets drugged and her performances get bad or is it that when she’s releasing her own music she’s super excited about it and thought glory was her last chance and we failed her?? Im saying that about glory since Britney didn’t perform the same at all after glory era and even Jayden said Britney might quit music :((( what do you guys think?? Will Britney ever comeback or will she become a legacy artist..?
  9. Welcome to The People's Republic of Exhale, everyone! In this thread Exchange Express yourself!, I wanted to discuss our favourite album covers for every Britney album. It can be both an official album cover or a fanmade one, just an album cover you love. It also doesn't have to be only one, but also don't post, like, 15. So, without further ado, let's begin! Here are my picks: ...Baby One More Time Oops!... I Did It Again Britney In The Zone Blackout Circus Femme Fatale This is the most covers I'll post in this thread: Britney Jean Glory The covers above are easily my favourite fanmade Britney album cover in existence... it's so amazing. I just wish higher quality versions of them existed... Those are all the covers I can think of right now. I couldn't decide on one, so almost all of the albums have more than one cover posted. Also, congratulations to Babblative Japanophilia for being the only Britney album of which the official cover I consider one of the best.
  10. OMG did you guys know that the symbols on the left of the front of the CD case SPELL "BRITNEY SPEARS"?! I HAD NO IDEA. I feel like a new-born fan haha Apparently, if you download the official font and spell her name with it, those symbols appear in the same order. I don't have the font (how is it called, anyone knows?) but the amount of symbols correspond to the same amount of letters in her name, and they are all different except for whenever a letter is repeated (e, r, and s). I am gagged. I always liked the symbols but I also always thought they were kind of random, so I feel like the spelling of her name with the symbols was a sort of "happy mistake" on the part of the designer and then they decided to keep it. Did you guys know about this?? At least act like you did, otherwise I'll look like a fool haha :p PS: I know there are WAY more important things happening in the Britney world right now but maybe this will loosen / distract you all a bit? hah --- * EDIT: those symbols are actually called "dingbats," and the picture from the cover was taken by Patrick Demarchelier for CosmoGIRL!
  11. Not her best but c'mon... only 29M? I don't get why so many people dislike this song. It has some amazing live perfomances as well with one of her best choreographies ever.
  12. HERE IT IS! (thanks to user BritneyIcon!! <3) ----- Original post: Hey guys, I need help! I could swear years ago I read online a super interesting and insightful interview wih the guy in charge of mixing the DVD Audio of ITZ, and I would love to read it again and share it with others because it was a gem for any fan of Britney's music, especially now being the 15th anniversary of 'In The Zone.' He basically said he was working overtime and super hard on the mix but having an absolute blast because of the amazing production of the whole album. I especially remember him saying that all the crazy little sounds in the original inspired him to be super creative and experimental for a moment, though he already knew what the final product should sound like and what the record label expected of him (his job was to sort out each sound or instrument or voice or whatever from the stems into each of the 5.1 channels of this mix, if I understood correctly), but I loved reading once again that somebody was inspired by Britney and making them work hard for the end result. I obviously already tried to google this interview, but nothing came up (I swear the Internet should have regulations on archiving because I feel like it completely changes over time, and unless you make a copy of pages or media from it, you can never make sure you'll find stuff again, ugghh.....) I'm talking about this version of the album (a mix I never got to hear, by the way... sniff...): www.discogs.com/es/Britney-Spears-In-The-Zone/release/6151005 There it says this, among other information: I'm not sure what everything really means, but I googled those four guys in bold and I found nothing. Or am I that bad at googling? If any of you remember reading this interview and can help me find it, I'll appreciate it!
  13. A Brave New Woman: Britney Spears I came across this amazing Gif while searching for images to attach to this thread, and it's cracking me up! In all the years of seeing this iconic moment from the 2003 VMAs, and seeing all the memes from this, I had never noticed Mary J. Blige and Carson Kressley in the background. Their facial expressions are hilarious and says so much. Miss Blige is looking like, "these people need Jesus," while Carson is just getting all of his gay boy fantasies. Oh wow. This moment just became even more iconic for me. MTV did well here.
  14. I was wondering if anyone had the instrument stems for Toxic, specifically the strings.
  15. Ok, so why nobody ever talks about how good “The Hook Up” is... If she released this single today. It would’ve smashed the charts, even in Latin America with the urban music wave we’re currently on. https://youtu.be/4RWeZVdj4Pw I need The Hook Up 2.0
  16. So, at the gym while I’m doing cardio I’m constantly watching the BBMA performance, the slumber party music video and the New Years Eve **** Clark performance... I watch them because they motivate the **** outta me and they’re in HD (lol) I’m getting bored watching them over and over. Can y’all post some high quality, high energy performance videos or music videos to run to? Makes my time go by faster rather then just listening to music.
  17. Up until Glory gave us Explicitney with "Slumber Party" and "Liar", we had to settle with Censorney for several songs (not including "Work Work"): "Early Mornin'" "Get Naked" "Hot As Ice" "911" "Blur" "3" (editing "Living in sin is the new thing" in the music video...c'mon, America) "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" After lots of searching and researching, I have been able to find explicit versions for all the tracks above, except "Blur". Does anybody know if an explicit version actually exists? Were censor effects used in the first verse without her actually having said "This ****'s way too f*ckin' bright"?
  18. Was the rappless version released on a CD or something? As a single or a B-side remix?
  19. Britney said on Instagram that she was working on a Breathe on me music video Where is it ? its not on her youtube channel or on mtv did they just forget about it?
  20. Take a break from counting weekly sales and listen to this awesome cover. Sorry if ap
