  1. Geri uploaded a lyric video for Man on the Moon Mountain. Last Sunday she uploaded a new video for her YouTube series Rainbow Woman Related:
  2. Geri Halliwell has launched her new YouTube series Rainbow Woman. An introductory video on her channel talks a little bit about what we can expect to see on the weekly episodes she'll be uploading. The first episode of the series, The Queen Speaks, is about Queen Elizabeth I of England. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Previously: Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, is teasing something!! https://www.instagram.com/p/CHAZVJdADXR/?igshid=1asbdnhuiywjm I am here for it!! I love this visual! Geri and Victoria should have been actresses, tbh
  3. Hiyee! It's me again! EEEK! @PokemonSpears is still busy with work and Pokémon so I said yes to another episode of This Day in Pop! 💛💜 What can I say, i'm a generous queen. Ask Ms. Ellen. I'm actually kind of grateful to do this one cause it's my stan song! The official Spice Girls Instagram account posted this video to celebrate 20 years of their double A side single, Holler and Let Love Lead the Way, from their third studio album, FOREVER. On October 23, 2000, 'Holler' was released by iconic UK girl group, the Spice Girls (who just became a four piece at the time) as their lead single from their first post-Geri album, FOREVER. It is primarily an R&B song, a departure from their brand of straight up pop songs. The song is written by the Spice Girls, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels and Fred Jerkins III, and produced by Darkchild (who also produced the iconic remix for Britney's 'Overprotected'). The music video is directed by Jake Nava and sees all four girls representing one of the four elements of nature. Mel C as Earth, Mel B as Fire, Victoria as Air, and Emma as Water. 'Let Love Lead the Way' was released as a double A side with 'Holler'. It was written by the Spice Girls, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels, Fred Jerkins III, and Harvey Mason Jr - and produced by Darkchild and Harvey Mason Jr. The music video is directed by Greg Masuak and has a similar concept with the music video for 'Holler'. Only this time, the girls swap elements. Mel C becomes Water, Mel B becomes Air, Victoria becomes Fire, and Emma becomes Earth. The girls performed 'Holler' live on the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2000. Both singles (double A side) topped the UK Singles Chart becoming their 9th #1 single in their home country. Thank you for tuning in with me on today's back2back episode of This Day in Pop! I leave you with a live performance of 'Let Love Lead the Way' from my ever favorite Top of the Tops! TEEHEE 💛💜 Roxxy
  4. On their exclusive Vinyl edition of The iconic Crazysexycool (only album to go diamond by a girl group in the US, FanMail is coming close, TLC are watching the streams of No Scrubs and I pretty closely since RIAA allows that to go towards Album certs), But Rough Trade, an independent shop in NYC, while praising TLC, acknowledging the Spice girls were going to happen, they Drag the hell out Of Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice And here's the quote "What a Rock N Roll story of Feuding, success, bankruptcy, premature death (poor taste despite the truth), and gazillions of over the counter sales, but all driven by an amazing amalgam of Pop, Hip hop and Sass. This, Their second album paved the way for the Spice girls with their female empowered songs, But TLC had much more funk and soul than Posh could muster." The drag of Victoria Beckham. None of the others got dragged, I wonder if it had to do with denying the girl group and not wanting to be a Spice girl, is what made this singled out drag happen.
  5. 22 years after it's release, The 1997 Track "Stop" has gone Platinum in the UK. Thus making The British Fab Five, The only girl group to have 9 Platinum Singles in the UK. The track is also very legendary as it debuted and peaked at #2, Jason Nevins vs. run DMC was the #1 single in the UK. Though it's only claim to fame now in the public and British Music critics eyes is that it did what was shocking and unthinkable, stopped the Spice girls from getting a #1 single. Cos it seemed to everybody in the UK. It was normal for the Spice girls to just go at #1. When this happened it wasn't controversial, but it was shocking none the less to the UK public and critics that it actually happened. A track was more popular than the SPICE girls, ironically it's not as popular as is actually much loathed by everybody in the UK now. Also all the Singles from Spice and Spiceworld are all UK Platinum. For a girl group that's a huge thing, as it hasn't happened since this group.. However Holler/Let love lead the way which was a #1 hit in the UK and headlines have yet to see platinum status, But congrats to UK's Most popular girl group and only Group to demand Iconic status, since without the girls of SPICE, Girl group's wouldn't have happened in the UK at All.
  6. In an interview with Philippines radio station for promotion of Her 8th studio album "Melanie C" She was asked what song would she give away to another artist, What song by another artist is actually a Spice Girls song in disguise, and out of her iconic girl groups catalog which one is the most Melanie C track the most Lizzo would get a deluxe track From her new album. The deluxe edition is only available in physical form. It took 4 years for the deluxe of version of me to go streaming and digital global. Justin Timberlake's Can't stop the feeling is basically A spice girls track in terms of the production and the overall message that's positive Melanie C would take Let love lead the way from the Spice girls catalog and basically call it a Melanie C track.
  7. At one point this iconic 90s gay teen growing up essential was on netflix then it disappeared. I'm talking about Spice World: The Spice girls movie, the 1997 British musical comedy starring the best selling girl group of all time, and how iconic it's the highest grossing british musical of all time since A Hard days 🌃 starring the Beatles. A spice girls facebook page has uploaded the film in hd, glorious hd. If you have a smart TV. You can smart cast the film right on your TV through your phone. Enjoy the nostalgia Ladies. Can't wait for the upcoming Animated movie where the girls are super heroes using girl power to save the world from egotistical men.
  8. Released on November 6,2000. The UK Platinum certified album Forever, The Third and final studio album by the SPICE girls (only one without Geri Halliwell). The Album mainly features production by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Robert Smith and Freddie Jerkins, Plus Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis (Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey) saw the girls ditch the European pop sound for An American R&B sound. The 20th anniversary Vinyl comes out Friday November 20,2020. Any amazon pre order or order comes with a free Mp3 album.
  9. IMO, this is the 1st Mel C song that sounds like a Spice Girls song!
  10. If I have to hear Spice girls are a one hit wonder in the US. I'm schooling ya. School is in session. They have 7 US Top 20 hot 100 appearance's. The most for a British girl group in the US. Wannabe #1 for 4 weeks, debuted at #11 matching a Beatles record and matching The debut position of Ironic by Alanis morissette. Wannabe dethroned The 11 week reign of Un-Break my heart by Toni Braxton. Say you'll be there entered the hot 100 at #4 breaking a record for the highest debut chart entry by a British girl group (a record still held 23 years later) peaked at #3 2 Become 1 peaked at #5. Spice established a record at that time for a British girl group to debut at #6 (The girls held this Record til 2012 when DNA by little Mix entered at #4, but as @Slayer can tell you, Little Mix refused to flirt and be ****** with radio programmers which caused Their US label Columbia records to abandoned them early on their career, it's no secret Columbia along with Simon has been trying to push Perrie to go solo, but she has refused. Spice though topped the top 200 and boasts is three US Billboard hot 100 hits and Spice girls topped the new artist of 1997, and Spice was the best selling Album of 1997. I'll admit the Europop album "Spiceworld" while as an album it was successful, But it wasn't radio friendly in us radio, Where Spice had a very British R&B Funk, Spiceworld was an in your face pop album. Plus it was released 9 months After Spice was issued in February of 1997. So two album's in one year, plus all the sponsorship deals. The US and in a slight lessor degree in the UK, The girls were overexposed faster than any act. It wasn't until 2009 when a public poll revealed that lady Gaga was the most overexposed star that a brand new act earned that title. Spiceworld Still managed to produce a US Top ten single Too much, The Reggaeish, and R&B production was enough to let radio airplay take it to #9 on the hot 100. The girls came this close to a Fifth and final US Top ten single with Goodbye when it peaked at #11 on the hot 100. Two US top three albums (a great fear for a British girl group) 4 US top ten singles (another feat for the British Fab Five) Plus 2 multi platinum Album One platinum single And Five gold singles. According to the RIAA the Spice girls sold over 14 million in the US, making them the third most certified girl group of all time and the most certified British girl group in the USA. Plus Backstreet boys credit the Spice girls for the shift that helped establish pop music and the teen pop scene that was to come. Even Alanis said, if it wasn't for the spice girls, I don't think the teen pop revival would have happened that fast in the US. They played a huge part in the revival of teen pop, I don't think teen pop has seen a revival since the late 90s and early 00a. It sure as hell Wouldn't have happened without that group. Maybe around the world, but not the US.
  11. The top five greatest hits by solo acts, Before playlists, artists and labels would package a best of their biggest artists. Sometimes the greatest Hits have clever titles. Like the best selling compilation by a solo act, Female in the US The immaculate collection by Madonna. Or in some cases like TLC Now and forever. One greatest hits act I will be excluding from this list is the original 1998 Mariah Carey #1's album. She opened the album with a letter saying this was out of her hands, and this isn't a greatest hits, it's too soon. Just a thank you to the fans, when the greatest Hits comes I'll include songs that didn't go #1 that are better than some that did Underneath the stars, Breakdown, the roof. Mariah thanked the fans, but also shaded the concept behind the album. My opinion for the best Britney Spears greatest Hits collection The 58 track (29 CDs in the rare and hard to get cool box set which housed a b side or a cool Remix) that celebrated her first decade in the music industry. While the 2004 set Greatest hits: My prerogative was praised, many felt it was way too soon for Britney to actually have a Hits collection, saying it speaks of her short brief imperial phase. But 2009's Box set was praised and achieved universal acclaim, the only Britney album to achieve this. Saying as a singles act, it doesn't get better than Britney Spears. This set goes hand to hand with the just released Madonna's celebration, and is a great reminder, that just like Madonna and Michael Jackson was the top pop stars of their era. Britney Spears proves this box set start as a teen pop 🌟 brilliantly across 29 CD singles goes from pop star to established club act. It's perhaps an indicator when Britney goes out of favor for radio stations and album sales, the princess of pop will join the ranks of Madonna and Kylie Minogue as relevant in the dance floor forever, who needs a billboard hot 100 #1 hit when you have 15 #1 dance hits. For the males there is only two men I Stan both I was raised on in my household Prince the Hits. This release was right before the final Official album to bear his name under the moniker Prince 1958-1993, but this release he allowed to happen, but refused to promote given the battle he was taking on the music industry. While Taylor Swift got praised. Prince did it to, was ridiculed and made fun of. This is the only commercial he authorized for his first greatest hits set. Kylie Minogue step back in time deluxe 3 CD set Originally a 2 CD set, many fans felt jipped on kiss me once exclusion. Kylie obliged and released the expanded reissue of her Gold certified #1 Album. 10 more hits, plus a 40 minute megamix. TLC now and forever:The Hits represents the best American girl group compilation Like T Boz said, we're the only girl group to have funk, soul, rap. It wasn't done before, and never happened since them. https://youtu.be/NOOhqDpL5-k Michael Jackson History, past present and Future book 1.. Is perhaps the ultimate best of in make pop stars, 15 of his biggest Hits on one disc, the other is a complete studio album. Featuring Scream the only time Michael and Janet collaborated, plus it house's the very first single to debut at #1 on the Billboard hot 100 (which happened slot in the fall of 1995, but until the streaming era, it was way difficult to achieve that feat, it's easier now. Not so much back then) It's also to date his most controversial and personal album to date. Reason why it's controversial Michael was accused of anti seminite lyrics in they don't care about us, by the Jewish community. For the following lyrics. "Skinhead, dead head, everybody gone bad . Jew me, sue me, kick me, kik'e me Don't you black or white me." Let's just say Sony Music was extremely pissed that they had to pay an additional 2,000,000 for Michael to reedit the song without the offending lyrics. Hint the special effects. It's only the original print that contains the unedited version. Celebration is the ultimate greatest Hits set by Madonna.
  12. What are your favourite songs from the Spice Girls? I love these Their best song, period An underrated gem I be hitting this choreography r&b queens So good
  13. Wannabe was released internationally 24 years ago today, Virgin intentionally planned the US market to wait for January of 97 so the girls could solely focus on the market for a good solid four months, this was a major key in breaking into our Notoriously difficult music industry. Many international acts refuse to do that now saying that they already established other places, if the US is a failure, then so be it. Wannabe was a huge success between 1996 and 97 the single charted at #1 a record 33 countries including the US. The song was the tenth biggest selling single in the US in 97. While the Album itself was the best selling album of 97 in the US. Wannabe caused a huge shift in the Uzs market. Before wannabe happened Record buyers were obsessed with acts like Alanis Morissette and serious song writers. Even Alanis in a 90s CNN special said: "Thank god for these girls cos even I got tired of my own music and me just being representing a genre (Grunge) that was already dying cos of The leaders untimely death. " Even Boy Bands NSYNC and Backstreet boys credits the Girls success in America for helping them breakthrough into their own home country. Still to this day. The backstreet boys wants to do A Spice Girls/BSB global stadium tour. Congrats to the girls for bringing pop music back to the forefront in the 90s and pioneering the teen pop movement before it became a thing in 1999. Here's the full CNN 90s Music documentary titled isn't it ironic.
  14. Growing up in Canada Carly Rae jepsen grew up in a folk music household, But I'm not surprised quite Honestly. It does Seem from Alanis Morissette to Jewel People from the northern world are very folk music inspired as they don't sing songs but tell stories. Even doing pop music, Carly can't escape that tradition, Hell Call me maybe was originally a folk music track before the dance pop transformation.. Carly's first introduction to fun. GUILTY FREE, POP MUSIC WAS The Spice Girks. Stream Tug of War, Carly's only Folk music inspired album in her catalog .
  15. When it comes To Academy award winner Emma Stone her love of the Spice girls will be infamous as it hijacked The Spiderman sequel promo with ex boyfriend Andrew Garfield to where British Host Graham Norton basically gave the legend a heart attack by acting the Spice girls were there to meet her, When they weren't. While The Amazing Spiderman 2 flopped, it will always be remembered as Emma's quest to meet the Spice girls. She did that with American rock bamd Haim who's actually bigger in the UK then their native US as they have their 3rd number one album in the UK, when they attended the entire 13 sold out stadium tour. Unfortunately Emma stone broke a few bones and dislocated her shoulder as you do in a hysteria of seeing your favorite act. For once Covid-19 is not to blame for a film's delay but a Spice girls concert which caused Emma to have serious injuries. Filming of the Cruella film is set for 2023 per drs orders. Since Emma signed the contract Disney can't fire cos a lawsuit can happen for a breach of a contract on their end.
  16. A for effort, But Feminist actress Charmed (saved the show) and Scream actress Rose McGowan is getting dragged on Twitter again. Saying one day the world will be like the day in 1998 when British Girl Power troops The Spice Girls and Italian tenor The late Pavarotti came together to bring peace. By comparing an annual charity concery for the Children of Liberia To the current Covid-19 pandemic, well she's getting dragged as many people pointed out. This pandemic pretty much stopped the world and has people pondering the future in a post Covid-19 world and if and when wi life get back to normal. Most people have noticed a trend that social distancing has killed basic social skills and social contact among friends and colleagues as people have relied to texting and other forms of communication. Many wonder if that's the standard of all human contact, a lot of single people are in need to get laid, and scientific studies and medical research has been for those people who arent in the Aeroromantic part where people can handle not doing it as it's something they don't desire or need It has been proven to have serious consequences on the drive itself and can eventually kill it, somehow for some pf you good luck that the ex drive doesn't medically die cos of this. But yeah, she's being dragged again as people don't really have hope anymore
  17. Hi, everyone! My friend and I are thinking of starting a music blog, and I want to make sure something like this doesn't already exist first, so please let me know if it does in any form! I'm obviously a huge pop fan, and he's into more niche artists, so we want to take turns reviewing music the other person likes (and offer both of our perspectives on new releases). Examples of things I would have him react to include Britney's unreleased tracks/B-sides (Mona Lisa, the Rebellion snippet, etc.), the Spice Girls' solo music, and Kylie Minogue's music in general (we're in America, and she's not as well-known here). What are your thoughts? Does this sound like a blog you'd wanna follow? Any particular artists/bodies of work you'd like reviewed? Would anyone be interested in occasionally contributing to it? Lmk!
  18. Mel C spoke with Entertainment Tonight and says the girls want to tour again in 2021 and she is trying to convince Victoria to join! She says they are still considering some sort of animation project (it has been rumored for years now) and even have discussed new music. She wants to tour more of Europe, US, Australia and South America. Lets hope it happens this time!!!!
  19. So July 8 is the 24th anniversary of wannabe and Girl power. So me and a fellow mutual Spicer. Who I met at the reunion tour in New York city. Still to this day. One of the best people in the world.. Join me and Carlos as we talk about the girls, their music both solo and group wise. The impact on both American and British music industry and especially What role the girls played in bringing pop music back in the states. And Pioneering the teen pop movement that only they spearheaded with The backstreet boys in 97. Before 99 went down with Britney and more pop stars. Impact on girl groups in Britain and how they basically crashed The boy band crash which they were told would never happen. Were also going to talk about what they really mean to us. And how it's actually nice to see a group that's considered a fad celebrated in social media times like they never broke up. So join us. We're still planning on things. We are definitely going to do an apple music playlist. I respect your love for spotify. But Apple music allows us to add musuc videos in the playlist and since we both use that platform. We thought it would be great. Hear the singles our fav album tracks, the b sides, remixes and our favorite solo material. We are technically limited in the US access to solo music. So we really are sorry. But we can't add Our fav solo spice track maybe by Emma Bunton. Which billboard listed as the best spice girls solo track. But we will make it fun. Music and Videos in 4K resoultion. So join us in the party to celebrate the British fab five.
  20. https://music.apple.com/us/album/here-comes-the-spice-squirrels/157024490 So apparently in 1998..a german edm label for kids. Did what's common to cash in. A fictional band doing covers of huge pop stars. Here comes The Spice squirrels is indees cashing on the Spice girls. The cover even makes the squirrels look like the girls The resemblance to the girls likeness on the Negatively reviewed Spiceworld playstation game. Is so shocking. But due to adding tales and a few other elements. The girls couldn't sue for copyright infringement due to a huge percentage was changed in the groups image..
  21. Simon Ellis, the fabulous musical director of The Spice Girls' 97 Istanbul gig, Spiceworld Tour 98, Christmas in Spiceworld UK 99 tour and the 2007-2008 return of the Spice girls tour, shared a high quality clip of the best Spice Girls ballad ever: "Viva Forever." An interesting fact: he actually had one of the back up dancers record the stomping in the flamenco dance from a rehearsal. So that echo you hear is actually recorded dance steps to heighten the intensity of this music. But Jamie King. Sweetie, we need to talk. The girls should have popped out of a rubix cube in their fairy outfits to honor the best animated video ever.. Simon has been asked if he plans on discussing and sharing tidbits of the Femme Fatale tour. He answered politely no. He does have a valid point. American music artists are always more celebrated worldwide. Being that he is British, he feels he has more of an obligation to actually shed light on British music. Since a lot of the American pop music trends are lifted from the UK or Sweden and always Americanized... I just wanna honor the British music industry respectively. Outside the Britney tour. I actually never worked with US Based artists.
  22. https://www.enfieldindependent.co.uk/leisure/showbiz/18516516.spice-girls-reunion-inspired-empowering-new-album-says-mel-c/ The Spice girls reunion Stadium tour of 2019 fully inspired the Upcoming 8th Solo studio album from Sporty Spice herself. Stating before the tour launched she was extremely nervous about becoming a woman she desperately distanced herself from. But once the tour started "I didn't become Sporty Spice, I am her, that's part of who I am". It definitely sounds like it took her 20+ years to fully come full circle. Can't wait for the album. Meanwhile Stream the best of Melanie C to hear and get to know the artistry and the vocalist of what critics say is the best and talented singer of the five Spice girls. And also. While your at it. Stream the official Best of Spice girls by the iconic fab fuve.
  23. The fact that we replaced Victoria with Geri actually makes me happy. The music will be gay, The boys are gonna be gay. Mel B will have to keep the love of hip hop and Rap. On her own solo career. That is if she will finally admit. For once in my life is more iconic than anything on 2000's Hot.
  24. Emma Bunton's 2004 album Free Me will forever be viewed as the third and final best solo Spice album. Joining Geri's Schizophonic and Melanie C's Northern Star as some of the best solo Spice albums, Emma's second, Free Me, brilliantly did what she does best. A highlight of the 98 Spiceworld tour was when Emma covered The Supremes' "Where Did Our Love Go?" Many speculate a 60s type motown album was in her future. It happened. Her second studio album, and just like Victoria Beckham, Emma reunited with Simon Fuller as both manager and on his record label 19 Recordings. 12 songs, one duet with Luis Fonsi (before he became a reggaeton icon, he was viewed as a romantic act Like Julio Iglesias, sr. His early solo music was very much romance theme and passionate love making music), the album houses the best solo Spice Girls solo single to date. Maybe. Many critics hailed it as a proper canon and was one of the best solo Spice albums ever. Oddly after Free Me, both 2006's Life in Mono and 2019's My Happy Place was trashed by fans and critics alike stating that she tried duplicating Free Me. Oddly, her cover of "Don't Call Me Baby" was trashed by the original artists, stating her innocent and sweet personality failed to match the song's aggressive attitude. Even critics agreed her innocent childlike persona was seen as overlooked compared to Victoria's icy stare as Posh, Geri's in your face attitude and brass. Mel B's unapologetic nature and very loud mouth. Even tom boy Melanie C's Sporty Spice persona. All the other girks always overshadowed the sweet and innocent Baby Spice, a fact that still proves today. Given she's not problematic, had any scandals or controversies the way the other girls had. Enjoy The best studio album by a Spice Girl. It produced Four UK top 20 hits, went Gold. Still the only Spice Girl solo album to outsell her previous solo album. No other Spice Girl can say that.. Oddly, Melanie B's Hot was the first solo project to flop. Though Virgin should take responsibility and admit. Releasing Mel B's solo debut a week prior to the Spice Girls' third album was for a lack of better term a career suicide. Most people were more interested in the Spice Girls in the UK rather than a solo Spice album. Don't get me started on Victoria Beckham's only album.
  25. Mariah Carey tops the list of the most streamed pre 2000 female act song. Few surprises. Both TLC and The Spice girls are neck to neck. Spice girls wannabe is streamed more than Toxic by Britney spears Not surprisingly Madonna is nowhere on the list. Every playlist she's added she's the one that gets skipped the most. Which I find funny. Considering all out 80s spotify playlist has her on the cover.. But that's not shade. It's just that the 80s are one of the least streamed decades. I truly believe anything prior to 1994 isn't being streamed obsessively. So artists like Janet Jackson, Madonna, All the original MTV era stars are truky the least streamed acts. Cos the streaming generation or kids born in the 90s. Didn't grow up with them when they ruled the charts.
