  11. On December 20, 1996. A pop culture phenomenon was released Scream. 23 years later. This film series joins Friday, The 13th, A nightmare on elm street, Halloween. Only saw came close to joining this status of pop culture status. The first film did break horror stereotypes. Sydney lost her Virginity and survived..For a Final girl. That was a first. As before that. The final Girl was the pure and innocent one. Meaning didn't drink, Be promiscuous. Typical Horror rules was Drinking, Being a Ho or a jock, being popular and doing drugs. Technically rules was any sin you enjoyed got you killed.. Being a saint meant you became the heroine and the Nerd became the hero in the end.. Spawned two successful sequels and a 4th one that flopped. And a TV series. But also is the only film that did spawn real life crimes. Most crimes the killer or perpetrator wanted to do a real life scream. Researching the crimes. It's actually sad. The film has a great legacy and its marred by the fact that it did inspire real life murders. Because as some pointed out they wanted to be famous. In one doc about one of the crimes. A horror film expert said. They missed the entire point of Scream then. He said. The crime inspired by the film but missed the point. Cos Billy said. "Movies don't create psychos, Movies make psychos more creative"
  12. Begins very cringeworthy. Two females can't rap. Can't perform. Then left eye and Da brat saved the day. Lil Kim is a studio rapper. But as a live performer. The barbz said it best. She can't rap. She only got lucky due to association with Puff daddy and The Notorious b.i.g. without them. She would have no career. Lisa was being nice. Cos the girl can perform and even outshined TLC on stage. If she performed the way she normally does. Kim would have been destroyed that night. To even outshine your own group while performing. Whether it's unintentional or not. That's a different discussion
  13. If this has been asked/talked about before, sorry for bringing it up again...but does anyone feel sentimental about Cheiron Studios? Soo many 90s/europop hits were born there with Max Martin...Britney, BSB, NSYNC... There's one in Orlando, but RIP to the original one in Sweden...
  14. In retrospect, that whole Britney prime era (1998-2004) really felt like a pop music Renaissance, sparked by the meteoric rise of Britney. Critics assumed it was a trend that wouldn't last more than 1 or 2 years, that Britney wouldn't survive the sophomore slump of a second album. A fad. Instead, it became a full-on phenomenon. A Britney explosion. Suddenly, record labels from all over the world rushed to find their own Britneys and cash in on the lucrative teen pop business. More blond female pop singers emerged on TRL. 20 years later, and Britney is the last one standing as the ultimate pop icon. I'm interested in hearing Exhalers discuss what is it about Britney that sets her apart from the others? Honestly, her personality has been a large part of it for me. Despite what Exhalers may say about Currentney's odd and awkward personality, I still see a certain charm there, social anxiety and all. Of course that's just one of many reasons for me...

  21. Let me preface this by stating this is not yet another superfluous thread with the intention of bashing Britney’s appearance. Rather, it’s simply to have some nostalgic fun by posting some examples of the worst, tackiest, or just plain weird fashion statements that were stylish two decades ago. Makeup trends indicative of that time period are also welcome. I’ll start! 1998: 1999: 2000: 2001: 2002:
