  2. September 4th is a special day in the music world. This day back in 1981 saw the birth of one of the world's greatest pop stars. Today I want to celebrate this woman, who has accomplished so much in her life. Her art and performance have inspired me throught my life. Her craft has touched my spirit deeply. Her journey to success is something I have always admired. The dedication, how hard working and detailed she is, Beyoncé is all that and much more. I hope one day I have the honor of meeting her. So, Happy Birthday to Queen B, thank you for teaching me how to be the fiercest Sasha I could be, it comes in handy in this not so nice world. Here are my 3 favorite songs by Queen B. 1, Freakum Dress, my anthem, Sasha can't be fierce without this bop it is essential. 2, Grown Woman, this song speaks for itself. 3, Crazy In Love, if my life were a song this would be it. Honorable mentions, That's Why Your Beautiful, Dance For You, All Night, Pretty Hurts, I Miss You, Irreplaceable, Six Inch Heals, Start Over and Halo
  3. Watch the nine years old yellow crowned Amazon parrot from the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park in Friskney, England cover Beyoncé's 2008 hit song "If I Were A Boy"
  4. So I was going through my playlists and one of them is "Songs That Deserved More" and thought it would be interesting to see your thoughts. I chose a song from each artist mentioned, but of course they have other songs that did not deserve to flop or should've been more successful than they were. Although there are a couple of artists on here I'm not the most fond of anymore I can't deny that these aren't bops and deserved more. 1) Britney Spears - Slumber Party Peak: #86 USA Highest Peak: #1 US Dance Club Songs Fun Fact: The song is Britney's 36th Billboard Hot 100 entry 2) Christina Aguilera - Your Body Peak: #34 USA Highest Peak: #1 US Dance Club Songs Fun Fact: Music video directed by longtime Beyonce collaborator Melina Matsoukas 3. 5. On August 28, 2011 the VMA's were held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Britney Spears received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for her influence and impact in music. The award was presented by Lady Gaga in her character of Jo Calderone, giving an introductory speech which was followed by a medley performance by a group of girl dancers, featuring Britney's most iconic outfits throughout her music video career. Britney and Gaga had a moment of silence onstage, where they exchanged looks while making the audience believe they were gonna kiss (as a reference to Britney and Madonna's kiss in 2003) only for Britney to interrupt saying she "had done that already" Together they proceeded to introduce Beyoncé's performance That night, Britney also won Best Pop Video for Till the World Ends The same video was also nominated for Best Choreography, but lost to Beyoncé's Run the World (Girls).
  6. Beyonce uploaded the "Brown Skin Girl" visual to YouTube. It's only the second video from her Black Is King visual album to make its way online (the other being "Already"). It's stunning! I saw some comments online of people saying, can you imagine if there was a "White Skin Girl" video? Totally disagree with that. Thoughts? Related:
  7. Who approved this?! Camila Cabello and Missy Elliott are teaming up for a cover of Beyonce's iconic "Single Ladies." It'll be featured in the live adaptation of Cinderella. 8. Britney's Instagram account posted a video of her dancing to the Fifty Shades of Grey remix of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love." The remix is seductively intoxicating compared to the original. This isn't the first time Britney's danced to Beyonce in the foyer of her Thousands Oaks home. She recently shared a clip dancing to "Haunted." The princess of pop also recently said she takes notes from Queen Bey. Watch below. Thoughts, Exhale? Related:

  10. Hey Exhale! Because it's a slow weekend I'm wondering what your favorite debut single is of the 20 mentioned ladies: Britney Spears , Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Ariana Grande, Kesha, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Dua Lipa, Ava Max, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift , Hilary Duff, and Meghan Trainor. Sorry I was limited to 20 choices and I think these all either have solid debuts or are icons I couldn't leave out. Was going to make it multiple choice but what's the fun in that? Obviously my pick is Britney and Baby One More Time AKA the best debut single of all-time Welcome to the first round. Favorite 2nd Album leading single coming next. This is the female edition with a male and group edition coming soon
  11. Beyonce's new visual album, Black Is King, based off The Gift for The Lion King, was an 80-minute serve. Absolutely stunning. She competes against herself. The videos weren't solely beautiful, they contained a message about the power and specialness of being black. However, it's important to note this is my impression as a privileged white male. There are messages and nuances I can't possibly grasp. That's why this review on Essence is important. It celebrates Black Is King, but offers constructive criticism. The article is called Why We Must Be Careful When Watching Beyoncé’s ‘Black Is King’ Read the full thing here. Thoughts, Exhale? Does the reviewer make interesting points?
  12. For all the hype Beyoncé gets her numbers/sales are rather underwhelming... I've always wondered why Beyoncé's music is fleeting and you see it dropping so quickly from the charts. Also why despite her massive hype her numbers do not add up when it comes to streams and sales. For someone of her caliber and that is placed in such a lofty and high position by the media you'd think she would be doing much better numbers but she is out charted/performed by other acts that don't get the same level of hype. Her last three projects have done underwhelming numbers all things considered and her latest album Lemonade dropped rather quickly from the Billboard Top 200 chart while you still see ANTI by Rihanna (for example) remaining on the chart all this time and older albums by Adele and Swift among others. Don't get me wrong, I like Beyoncé but there is definitely a discrepancy between the way she is portrayed (by the media in particular) and her actual numbers. Why do you think that is?
  13. Beyonce's Black Is King, a visual album for The Lion King soundtrack The Gift, debuted with a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based off of 6 reviews. I know y'all are smart, but that's a perfect score. It also has an audience score of 99%. Who took away that 1%?! Exhale, have you had the chance to see Black Is King yet? What're your thoughts? Is the 100% rating justified or is it overhyped? Related:
  14. To celebrate the release of Beyonce's new visual album for Black Is King, Queen Bey put the video out for "Already," which features Shatta, Wale and Major Lazer. She also dropped a deluxe version of The Gift. Related:
  15. Beyonce appeared on Good Morning America to promote Black Is King, a new visual album in support of her Lion King soundtrack. It's pretty wild to see Beyonce participate in traditional promo. She clearly wants this to succeed. Black is King debuts tonight on Disney+ Are YOU tuning in tonight, Exhale? Check out the promo below: Related:
  16. Honestly I don't believe she is releasing her 7th studio album. I think this is just a continuation of The Gift. Even if she did release an album We saw how her last releases turned out. The Carter's went to #2. Homecoming went to #4 And the Gift went top ten but disappeared fast. I'm thinking her reign might be over. Even if there was music. I don't think people would be here for A G rated Beyonce album.
  17. Besides Self-titled, an album of Beyoncé I really love is Sasha fierce. Plus the era was everything. I am...Sasha fierce had bops like “Single ladies”, “Diva” (omg this one ), Sweet dreams (), Video phone...ballads like broken hearted girl, if I were a boy , and obviously, halo . I really think this was Bey at her best. Beyoncé self-titled was also a fantastic album. My no.1 fav alongside I am...Sasha fierce When will lemon juice ?

Congrats queen Bey she's about to dethrone Luis Fonsi And Daddy Yankee's biggest hit with Justin Bieber pretty soon.
  19. Madonna, Beyoncé and Rihanna are the only females to win three prestigious industry awards for music videos. Best Music Video (Short Form during Madonna's win) Grammy Ray of Light 1999 (Madonna) We Found Love 2011 (Rihanna) Formation 2017 (Beyoncé) Video of the Year VMAS Ray of Light (Madonna) 1998 Umbrella 2007 Rihanna We Found Love 2012 Rihanna Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) 2008 Beyoncé Formation 2016 Video Vanguard Madonna 1986 Beyoncé 2014 Rihanna 2016. Madonna one up these two as Two of her Concert films won the Grammy for Best Music Film (Best long form Music Video when she won them) Madonna Live! The Blond Ambition tour Madonna: The Confessions tour Britney spears has won two of these, But I don't think any of her music videos including Toxic has Been nominated for the Grammy for Best Music Video. Congrats to these MTV queens Lady Gaga will join them if she gets the Vanguard award
  20. Kelly Rowland opens up about her experience having to live up to Beyonce comparisons. "Can you imagine what it’s like being in a group with Beyoncé?," she said in a new interview. "I can’t wear this dress because they’re going to say it’s like B. Or I can’t have a song like that because it sounds too much like B. They’re gonna compare anyways. I would be lying if I said no, it’s never bothered me. That’s bull." "There was a whole decade, if I am being completely honest, a decade, where it was like the elephant in the room. It was the thing that would constantly be on my shoulder," she added. I think it's pretty cool she's acknowledging what a hurdle that's been for her. Beyonce is clearly in a league of her own, and that's clearly been tough for Kelly as she continues to navigate her solo career. Thoughts? Related:

  23. The power and influence of Beyonce is undeniable. She works her arse off in everything she puts her fingers in. However, her whole "representing African/black culture" and cashing on it, was and is getting bit problematic. And finally someone finally called her out. Beehive, please take your swarms to some swamp, if you are offended by this.
