Happy Libra Season, fellow Libras! Miss Raveena turned 26 years old yesterday. To celebrate, I thought it would be nice to introduce her to Exhale! She's of Indian heritage, born in Massachusetts with an upbringing in Queens, New York. Sonically, Raveena's debut album Lucid (released in 2019) is full of atmospheric and vibrant tunes that draw inspiration from Neo-Soul and R&B. Her soft, plush vocals portray a woman whom has suffered through an abusive relationship and is coming to terms with her inner strength. She sings "I was so naive to think a man could be stronger than me" on the track "Stronger". Lucid is a journey from start to finish, a woman finding her inner strength through her divine femininity. The album showcases her healing process through songs like "Bloom", where she sings "subtle things you say to break me down, it don't really phase me, now I'm blooming 12 feet off the ground". Raveena's soft heartfelt melodies transcend you to another dimension, one full of peace and tranquility. She continues her journey with album highlight "Still Dreaming" where she harmonizes about a new love that is too perfect, she pushes getting out of bed in the morning and sings "I don't wanna lose that feeling, sleepin' in your arms". She sings a song about her mother titled "Mama", a song where Raveena questions her mother's hopes and dreams as well as the sacrifices she had to make to give Raveena a better life. The closing track "Petal" ends the album on a euphoric note, its production consists of soothing layered melodies and makes one imagine themselves laying in a bed of flowers while simultaneously floating; Petal comes after Raveena has a conversation with her grandmother about mortality and how one must face their deaths one day. It could be morbid if it weren't so absolutely beautiful and liberating. Since her debut album, she released an EP titled Moonstone this year. The EP generated a single entitled "Headaches". Raveena, who is bisexual, sings about a rollercoaster relationship she had with a woman; a love that she wasn't expecting ("I wasn't in the mood for love"), a love she realizes is not as healthy as she would like it to be ("She's the kind of girl that will **** you up") but in the end, she sings "There's no sunset without you". Yes, love is a rollercoaster, but Raveena is certain some love is worth all the #headaches. Raveena takes her art very seriously, as she ALWAYS delivers visually. She takes in imagery from her Indian heritage and combines it with retro Hollywood/Bollywood film fashion and víola, you have a Raveena video. Raveena puts in as much details into her music videos as she does into her live performances, see below. Tell me what you think! Happy Birthday Raveena!

Initially slated for release back in March but delayed due to the pandemic, British pop band Steps dropped their new single “What the Future Holds” last Monday. It’s the lead single from their upcoming sixth studio album of the same name. The music video for the track dropped on Friday and has been receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The song, penned by none other than Sia, topped the UK iTunes chart within an hour of its release, with the album pre-order following suit by the following day. Best known for their fan-friendly dance routines (hence the name Steps) and hits such as “Tragedy,” “One For Sorrow,” “Deeper Shade of Blue,” and the line-dancing classic “5, 6, 7, 8,” the band, who were a huge staple in European pop music back in the late 90’s and early 00’s (and even toured with Britney) made a huge comeback in 2017 for their 20th anniversary, with a sell-out UK tour and comeback album “Tears on the Dancefloor.” “What the Future Holds” has been three years in the making and is set to be a continuation of their last album, utilising their established sound and bringing it into 2020. It sees them reunite with writers such as Fiona Bevan (One Direction, Lewis Capaldi), Ina Wroldsen (Shakira, Britney Spears) and Karl Twigg (who worked on their first three albums) plus experiment with songs written by the likes of Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beyonce), Hannah Robinson (Kylie) and new pop shape-shifters such as Gracey and MNEK. The album drops November 27th and you can pre-order it here via their official store. There are various bundles across a variety of formats including signed CDs, pink vinyl and cassette tape (how very 90's). Watch the video for “What the Future Holds” below and stream on Spotify! I've also posted "The Best of Steps" playlist for anyone who maybe isn't familiar with their back catalogue of bops.

were alot of Britney's early songs very dark? I noticed how lots of her early songs are about breakups, depression and loneliness. For example: BOMT is about a girl going insane and regretting breaking up with her bf Sometimes is about a girl who's very shy and scared to talk to her crush (idk if it has to do with low self esteem but still) FTBOMBH is obviously about a breakup. Now when it comes to Lucky, its really a cry for help and Britney is really 'Lucky' Girl In The Mirror is about a girl who is so depressed over a breakup Heart is another breakup song. Well im gonna stop there cause we can go on forever. But yeah alot of her songs before Blackout were very depressing honestly. If Britney didnt seem so jolly and happy, the lyrics would be questionable. Now what do u guys think? Do you guys agree or know any more songs of hers that have dark lyrics?

I was inspired by old disco LPs that have an amazing flow as you play them - there are no gaps between songs, because it's all mixed and it kinda sounds like a medley, you know, just a gapless album. Like Madonna's Confessions for example, which is also inspired by late 70s music. So... I tried to make a non-stop Blackout mix. I'm not a DJ, but just tried my best to make it flow. I used the official stems and made some minor changes in some of the songs, but it's basically about Circus pure Blackout, no huge remixes. I hope you like it! If you're too lazy to listen to the whole thing, just check out the gaps between tracks

"A comfortable addition to her catalogue." From the exploitation of kissing a girl to dancing while purposely woke, Katy Perry is our favorite party best friend throughout the decade. And today, she finally dropped her most anticipated fifth studio album, Smile, follow up to 2017's Witness. We managed to somehow know what would be the direction of this record through her droplet era, starting from Zedd's collaboration, 365, to the most recent wedding-inspired ballad , Never Worn White. And though commercially underwhelming, it successfully transitioned her sound from electro-influenced pop to her old bubbly persona. And before proceeding to the album's final verdict, here are the track by track reviews: 1. Never Really Over ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - rather than to use her bubblegum-pop clichè, Perry progressively transcend the track into a mouthful and catchy harmonious anthem. Indeed, a perfect pop song. 2. Cry About It Later ⭐⭐⭐ - though the electric guitar and bass are quite addictive, starting the track with it's chorus makes it tirelessly redundant. 3. Teary Eyes ⭐⭐⭐ - the electronic syths sound very familiar. At least the dreamy/feather-like way Perry sings blended well with it's edge-y beats. And that second verse is a great build up though. 4. Daisies ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - though the verses are particularly weak, the euphoric and explosive chorus helps the track to reach it's peak. 5. Resilient ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - the narrative is very strong but the lack of dynamics between the verses and chorus is somewhat a turn down. But the build up in bridge has paid off to redeem it's rightful place as one of the strongest track in the record. 6. Not The End Of The World ⭐⭐⭐ - an impressive misfire considering how grandiose the intro is. The verses are plainly bland, and just relied by repeating the worn off choruses. 7. Smile ⭐⭐⭐ - contrast to it's upbeat production, the track isn't adventurous enough to explore it's own potential to be a good Teenage Dream heir. Though it has some of the strongest lyrics. 8. Champagne Problems ⭐⭐⭐ - the laid-back syths are way too comfortable, to the point the track has became monotonously unexciting. And the chorus being lazily written didn't help either. 9. Tucked ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - the bubbliness of the production probably resonates her Hummingbird Heartbeat and Act My Age tracks. And with matching playfulness of the lyrics, this song is the easiest to digest relentless. 10. Harley's In Hawaii ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - the acoustic guitar successfully sets up the **** tone of the track, and the cleverness of the songwriting also wins to give a slow-burner-like vibe. 11. Only Love ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - the track has no promising melody or production but the way it's been delivered like a journal entry makes it more relatable. 12. What Makes A Woman ⭐⭐⭐ - though adorably and delicately produced, the swearings are just unnecessary. Wished the excitement in the second verse leads into something but it ended shortly. 🎪 🎪 🎪 "Smile" (6/10) The record is not a revival of her iconic Teenage Dream but rather a continuation of the PRISM's club inspired contents. And though it lacks with the promising and experimental sound of her ambitious Witness, the narratives and production are surprisingly cohesive, considering the weights of Never Really Over as an opening track has put in. The tracklisting is also well blended and sync as the album progresses, without hearing the lead singles being aggressively overshadowing the following tracks. Favorite Track(s): • Never Really Over • Resilient • Tucked • Only Love Least Favorite Track(s): • Cry About It Later • Teary Eyes What are your favorites tracks? Related:

Katy Perry's sophomore album, Teenage Dream, has set another record breaking achievements after 10 years of it's release. Her label, Capitol Records, just recently updated the certifications of the said era in preparation of the album's anniversary this August 24th, four days before the release of her fifth record, Smile. Here are the details: Teenage Dream (album) - 8x Platinum Teenage Dream (single) - 8x Platinum Firework - 12x Diamond With these, Katy Perry has now surpassed Michael Jackson's record of the highest certified music package (album + singles) with staggering 64.5 million units sold. Notably that these two artists have the same feat of having five No.1 singles in one album (doing so with Teenage Dream and Bad). And with Firework's hitting a new mark, it also became the most consumed single for a female lead, alongside with another achievement of being the only artist to have 7 songs to sold more than 8 million units in RIAA history. Congratulations, Katy Perry!

Shania Twain teamed up with Orville Peck on "Legends Never Die" from the masked singer's latest EP "Show Pony." “I cannot thank Shania enough for being part of this; she has always been a hero of mine and her music made me feel so empowered growing up,” commented Peck in a statement. “As cliché as it sounds, recording with her and getting to get up on stage and sing with her in Nashville is a dream come true. No words really.” Shania looks incredible in the music video, dressed from the neck down in leopard print, reminiscent of her look in 1998's "That Don't Impress Me Much," as the duo perform to an enthusiastic drive-in crowd. Watch the clip below. What do y'all think? Related:

As far as I can see, Exhale is filled with users from all over the world, which is so beautiful - I live for a multicultural platform. So in that spirit, I would love to hear some of the best artists (according to you) from your own country, singing in your native language You can share more than one song if you wish. I'll start, here are two of my fave artists from Serbia: And since I'm motivated by @Roxxy , I could create a Spotify playlist of all the songs we've shared here so we can all bop

So let’s pray the #FreeBritney movement is successful and Britney becomes free of her current chains, if she decides she wants to continue making music - what would you want to see in her next era? Do you even want another era? What direction would you like to see Britney go in musically and image-wise? A new sound or look? What do you think would be a good album title? Any songwriters/producers you would like her to work with? Would you want her to address her struggles in her music? Music video inspirations or directors you would like her to work with? Would you want a world tour or another residency? I want to hear what YOU think!

Lately I've been curious about what people think about Galantis... A little background courtesy of Wikipedia: Galantis is a Swedish electronic dance music production, songwriting and DJ duo consisting of Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw. Karlsson is also known as Bloodshy as part of two other musical groups, a duo (Bloodshy & Avant) and a trio (Miike Snow). Eklöw is known as Style of Eye. Christian Karlsson has worked with the producing team Bloodshy & Avant, and with the Swedish indie pop band Miike Snow.[2] Karlsson has co-written and co-produced tracks for artists such as Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue and Madonna. Specifically, Karlsson co-wrote the Britney Spears single "Toxic", which eventually earned an Ivor Novello award (for songwriting and composition) and a Grammy for Best Dance Recording.[2] Karlsson is also a founding member of Swedish artist collective and record label Ingrid. Style of Eye, Linus Eklöw's stage name, co-wrote and produced Icona Pop's song "I Love It" featuring Charli XCX. Style of Eye, a Stockholm-born and based DJ and producer, resides in the techno genre and comes from the underground scene. He explores a range of musical styles, from techno to house via distinct percussion and minimal, floating melodies. After growing up in a jazz and soul oriented family and playing a drumkit at age 10, Eklöw transitioned to electronic music after getting his first computer aged 15 and making "weird downtempo dubbeat and trip hop". DJing upbeat drum and bass followed at 16, and Linus moved into studio production with releases and remixes on such labels as Classic Recordings, Tiny Sticks and Rabid Records. Discography Pharmacy (2015) The Aviary (2017) Church (2020) Singles To Listen To Just curious about what some of the thoughts about them are AND...Britney worked with Bloodshy & Avant (Toxic, Do Somethin', etc.) Is it just me or could you hear Britney singing something like "Holy Water?" Britney X Galantis collab?

I was scrolling around my Facebook, my friend shared an article where it said gaga won close to 500 awards, I go through the comments, and one just alarmed me. Lady gaga is 34, just remember 34. "LADY GAGA IS TO OLD, IT'S TIME FOR HER TO RETIRE, LET SOMEONE YOUNGER SHINE AND TAKE HER PLACE" Curious to know this posters age, turns out she is only 16. So it does seem that what I always said turned out true, if last Decade was about Madonna at 50+ was considered too old and retire, eventually the next generation will make 30 and older , where the ageism starts as well as the sexism, its July of 2020 and My prediction came true. Teens today think 30 and older are the retirement age. So It seems pop music is no longer about the longevity that spans decades after decades, But fast food it seems like, when they get bored with one artist, off to the next. That's the music industry of today in a nutshell, Nobody is safe from being quickly replaced.
