  1. Once upon a time Katy Perry and Taylor Swift were seen as besties and then they became frenemies. Shortly after that they became industry enemies and each other’s competition. Well, turns out that it could be more than just bad blood and more like bloodline . Katy says: During the chat, host Sian Welby presented a well-researched fan theory to the pop star: that she could be ninth cousins with none other than Taylor Swift. “Well, we fight like cousins,” Perry quipped at first — referencing the pair’s famous “Bad Blood”-era feud — before incredulously joking that the theory was nothing more than “fan fic.” However, the singer was stunned to discover Welby and her fellow hosts were being dead serious about the connection to her fellow superstar, which one fan apparently put together on the family history platform My Heritage. “Wow, I’m gonna have to ask her if this true, or if we should, like, get blood tests together…It’s cool because you can just, like, spit in a tube.” Perry said while wearing a bright yellow hoodie from her brand-new “Smile” merch line.
  2. The cover art for Katy Perry's forthcoming album Smile is out. She's a frowning clown. Back in May, the album title track leaked. It features P Diddy. It officially drops at midnight tonight. "I wrote the title track from the album when I was coming through one of the darkest periods of my life and had lost my smile," Katy says. "This whole album is my journey towards the light - with stories of resilience, hope, and love." Thoughts on the cover? I love it. It's already iconic. Related:
  3. Katy Perry has accumulated 20 Billion views on YouTube from her official vevo channel, excluding all her features, and has thus become the first woman to do so. This is Katy's second consecutive YouTube record, after Roar became the first femal video to hit 3 Billion in February. Roar is also the oldest song to still chart on the daily views list, gaining 980k average views per day, 7 years after release, closely followed by Dark Horse and Bon Apetit which averages 800k each. This is Katy's second record when it comes to total views as she also holds the title of the most watched Superbowl Halftime show in History. Katy's most viewed videos on YouTube: 1. Roar- 3.1B 2. Dark Horse ft. Juicy J - 2.8B 3. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) - 1.2B 4. Firework - 1.2B 5. Hot N Cold - 974M 6. Bon Appetit - 945M 7. Wide Awake - 928M 8. Part Of Me - 819M 9. The One That Got Away - 747M 10. This Is How We Do - 739M 11. Chained To The Rhythm ft. Skip Marley - 639M 12. Swish Swish ft. Nicki Minaj - 604M 13. E.T. ft. Kanye West - 563M 14. Unconditionally - 537M 15. California Gurls ft. Snoop Dogg - 534M
  4. A Katy Kat confronted Katy and told her directly that they didn't like her new song "Smile," featuring P Diddy. Interestingly, the song hasn't been officially released (it's out tonight). It leaked a few weeks prior to "Daisies." "I don't like 'Smile,'" the fan says. Katy's reaction was great. She flinched a little, but homegirl must be so used to negative comments that she didn't skip a beat. Instead, she handled it with class, telling the fan she suspects a different song on the record will be better suited. Imagine telling your idol something rude. Related:
  5. Katy Perry Daises lyrics: They told me I was out there Tried to knock me down (Media saying she’s too eccentric, fashion outlets making fun of her clothing and personality) Took those sticks and stones Showed 'em I could build a house (took those words showed people she can create a family and be loved) They tell me that I'm crazy But I'll never let 'em change me (people hate on her due to how she acts and dresses but she won’t change and conform to Hollywood’s standards) 'Til they cover me in daisies Daisies, daisies (She’ll be herself till she dies) They said I'm going nowhere Tried to count me out (Label and others saying her music isn’t sticking, witness flopped your done. Your career is over) Took those sticks and stones Showed 'em I could build a house (Even though they’ve said all this she’s still happy, content and gotten more that she’s ever wished for) Katy deserves happiness not hate. She’s weird, goofy and kind. I’ll never understand why the world tore her apart. At least daisies as a song shows her fans she’s happy and content these days
  6. Katy Perry Tweeted fans "when I get my smile back... it's over for you hoes." "SMILE IS COMING" was a trending topic on Twitter shortly after Katy Tweeted that. Katy Kats suspect "Smile" is the name of her new album. It's certainly the title of one of the record's new songs. "Smile," featuring P Diddy, leaked onto the Internet a few weeks ago. Fans thought it was the album's lead single, but Perry shifted and released "Daisies" instead. TBH, I love Smile for an album title. The world needs a reminder to do just that. Do YOU like it? 7. Katy Perry revealed "Never Really Over" will land on her forthcoming fifth studio album. "I'm definitely going to put 'Never Really Over' on the record," she told Kiss 92.5's Chris Kelly of the fan favorite track. It's one of the best-performing songs she's had in a minute. It peaked at #15 on the Hot 100. It's certified gold by the RIAA. The new record drops August 14th. It's smart. That means her new record will have strong streaming figures upon launching. Related:
  8. Katy Perry released an acoustic version of her lead KP5 single, "Daisies." It features lush acoustic guitars and ethereal background vocals. Low-key prefer this to the original. Thoughts?
  9. While "Daisies" peaked at #40 on the Hot 100, it is #4 at The Adult Pop Songs chart (radio format). It's her sixteenth top ten and she is the fifth among all leader. P!nk is the top act with 25 top tens. Katy needs to embrace that she is a radio format act now. P!nk did. Kelly clarkson did. She's just something you listen on a soccer mom van trip. Related:
  10. The last three years have proven to be a difficult and different road for Katy Perry. In an interview with CBC, Katy Perry talks about mental health, gratitude and what validation can do to a pop star. Katy Perry says: “My career was on this trajectory where it was going up-up-up-up-up-up-up, and then I had the smallest shift; it wasn’t that huge, maybe, from an outside perspective, but for me it was seismic,” she explained. “It literally kind of broke me in half. I think I had broken up with my boyfriend, who’s now my baby daddy-to-be. And then I was excited about flying high off the next record and the record didn’t get me high anymore…The validation didn’t get me high, and so I just crashed.” "I lost my smile," she added. "I don't know if my smile was ever fully, like, authentically mine but I was riding on the high of a smile for a long time. Which was the validation, love, and admiration from the outside world, and then that shifted." "It was so important for me to be broken so that I could find my wholeness in a whole different way. And be more dimensional than just living my life like a thirsty pop star all the time," she continued. "Gratitude is probably the thing that saved my life, because if I didn't find that I would have wallowed in my own sadness and probably just jumped but I found the ways to be grateful." I'd also like to add that Katy Perry has been on FULL promotion mode. She partnered with Coke and did a live concert with Q&A. Check it out: Related:
  11. It’s obvious that Katy Perry and the Gays™ don’t have the strongest relationship but that doesn’t change the fact Katy is an ally She teased the “I Kissed A Girl” part of a greatest hits remix of “Daisies” on her IG. UPDATE: She released it with a music video on YouTube Edit: Apparently there’s no lyrics change and I’ll consider seeing an ear doctor after all this Corona mess
  12. Katy Perry is giving the gays everything they want. Literally. She says she recorded a gay club anthem. "There's definitely going to be a song for the gay club. Look, we all need to escape this intense type of thinking at moments." Are you ready for the gay bussy banger?! Related:
  13. Katy Perry is actually happy that she's flopping. It's showing her who her real fans are. And letting go of the fake fans. In a new interview, Katy said: “I felt out of the loop of being #1 & I’m so happy for it... It’s not about being on a chart or a #1, it’s about how this music connect with the fans and how does it make them feel... I’m grateful that I had a little shift in my life on last record that took me out of that game.” So get ready for Katy Perry: The Theater Tour.

  15. ** DISCLAIMER .... THIS IS NOT TO START A STAN WAR.... I'm just curious, based on the recent poll of who had the BEST decade, who do you all think had the most disappointing, and why? I'm curious what albums we didn't like, where we think things could've been better... tours, singles.... let's have some fun! For me, it's Christina Aguilera. I have been a fan of Christina since 1999. I was so stoked after her long hiatus to hear 'Bionic' was coming out, and I think it's one of the most flavorful albums of the 2010's. It was extremely disappointing to see which singles were chosen, how the tour was canceled, and the album ultimately scrapped. From there, 'Lotus' disappointed me because it was so generic, and nothing happened until 'Liberation'. I do think Lady X brought it back full swing with her residency and that phenomenal 'Liberation'.... but Christina could've had such a huge 'Bionic' era if they managed it a little differently....
  16. I love this performance! Katy performed for the graduating class of 2020, and she smashed it! "Daisies" is growing on me. I also love her work ethic She also performed "Firework." There's been a lot of support for Katy on Exhale lately. Are we feeling this performance? Related:
  17. Katy Perry just released her lead KP5 single, "Daisies," but it doesn't necessarily represent the rest of the album. Katy says her new album is 75% 'Prism' and 25% 'Teenage Dream.' To be honest, I feel a bit disappointed with that answer. I want 100% KP5. You know what I mean? I want Katy to forge a new path, not tapping into familiar sounds. How do we feel about this, Exhale? 18. Guys, it’s not really a shock, but “daisies” officially flopped. As of 8pm EST on June 3, 2020, “daisies” sits at #95 on iTunes. Just a reminder that this lead kp5 single was released only TWO weeks ago. I’ve made my opinion known about Katy. I loved her up until she began shading Britney Spears (3 times to be exact). It’s clear that the GP has no interest in Katy anymore and I do unfortunately think this is her new normal until she apologizes to Britney. Katy is even on a sympathy tour saying that she was clinically depressed after witness flopped. Mental illness is a serious issue that impacts everyone no matter your race, age, status, etc. But it’s like she expects us to have empathy for her now that she’s telling us she was depressed, but where was that empathy for Britney and her mental health? Katy made a joke of it. And what about the people of color and other marginalized communities that are fighting just to stay alive because they’re getting their lives taken because of their skin color or beliefs? Yet Katy’s biggest problem is her album only sold 200k. Talk about champagne problems. At this juncture, I think she just needs to make kp5 a greatest hits compilation, instead of an LP because I’m concerned what her first week numbers would be. Unlike another popstar whose album campaign was saved by a high profile collaboration, I don’t think anything can save Katy’s. Thoughts? Related:
  19. Our next #JusticeFor campaign should be for Bionic "Daisies." Katy Perry's new music video for her lead KP5 single isn't lighting up the Internet the way I thought it would. At the time of posting, the video only racked up just over 5 million views since it's debut. It's her most underwhelming debut to-date. By comparison, her ballad, "Never Worn White," in which she announced her pregnancy, was viewed around 10 million times in its first day. "Never Really Over" surpassed that with 10-15 million views in its first day. Katy has 271 million followers combined on social media. Why is "Daisies" not slaying? I think there are a couple of reasons: She hasn't ever disappeared from the spotlight. American Idol I think is hurting her music career. She's consistently released songs over the last year or two, so this doesn't feel like a "lead" single. She stopped connecting with the GP. It's also worth mentioning that it debuted at #40 on the Hot 100. I don't know. Am I the only one that still cares about Katy? Whether you're a Kat or not, I'd love to hear your opinions. And stream Daisies smh.
  20. Katy Perry performed "Daisies" and "Never Really Over" on Good Morning America remotely. She had a few backup dancers... I know this is not the best place to point out lip-syncing, but pretty sure "NRO" was 100% pre-recorded. "Daisies" had live moments. I know the song's going to debut at #45, but props to her work ethic. She's out there promoting during a pandemic while pregnant Thoughts on the performances? Related:
  21. Katy Perry performed her new single "Daisies" on American Idol, and it's a visual feast. The singer used some kind of virtual reality technology for the performance. It's pretty epic! Say what you will, but she keeps pushing the boundaries (andddd doing so while pregnant). What do you think of this new performance? Is it cool or a snooze fest? Related:
  22. Katy Perry's new era is officially underway! The pop superstar released a new music video for a track titled, "Daisies," the lead single from her forthcoming fifth studio album. The song is upbeat and bright - a shiny pop gem the world needs in this time of uncertainty. Sure, it probably won't crash the Hot 100, but does it matter? Music not the bling. More importantly, when most pop stars are taking a back seat because of the pandemic, Katy went the other way. She's going full album cycle on us amidst a global crisis, while pregnant. She even unapologetically shed her clothes and showed off her naked pregnant body in the video, which takes place inside an enchanting forest far away from the worries of a coronavirus. It's hard to fathom watching Katy in her element that the world is seemingly imploding. That's the beauty of this song and video. Yea, this isn't Katy's best release ever, but that's not what it's meant to be. "Daisies" is a beacon of hope in a time when we could all use some.
  23. Call her a flop or whatever, but I love who Katy has blossomed into these last several years. I also have mad respect for her stance on releasing new music amidst the pandemic. A lot of artists are deciding to press pause because the business side of music will take a hit, but Katy is just doing her thing regardless of how it pans out. She says she'll release KP5 this year regardless of the state of the world, because “we ain’t gonna let no coronavirus stop us from dancing.” I love that Her new single "Daisies" drops May 15. What do you guys think? Should she wait or release sooner than later?
