  1. Watch her performance of "Swingin' with My Eyes Closed" on The Tonight Show.

Life's getting good for Shania fans.

  2. "Swish represents liberation from all the negative that doesn't serve you."

We see right through you, Katy.

Despite her insistence that her songs are not about any one person, all signs point to Katy's newest Witness track being about nemesis Taylor Swift. From the pointed lyrics to the Nicki Minaj feature, who is also known for having beef with Taylor, it's hard to deny the allusions to the "Bad Blood" singer. When Katy dropped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to promote the track and her forthcoming album, Jimmy addressed the issue head one, asking the question that's on everyone's mind: Is Swish Swish about anyone we know?

Katy tactfully avoided any mention of Taylor, responding: "I think it's a great anthem for people to use whenever someone's trying to hold you down or bully you."

She went to explain that the song is all part of her quest for liberation: "It's just like 360 degree liberation. Chained to the Rhythm was this political liberation. Bon Appétit was a sexual liberation and now Swish represents liberation from all the negative that doesn't serve you."

She may not want to say it, but I think it's safe to say Swift is definitely Perry's target with this one.

Watch Katy discuss the track and her upcoming tour below:

She also explained the symbolism of the Witness album cover (something about her third eye?), opened up about her Vogue cover shoot and teased her upcoming SNL performance, calling it "lively" and "spectacular".

Katy is performing on Saturday Night Live tonight (May 20th) on NBC, alongside host Dwayne Johnson.

Thoughts? Do you think it's about Taylor?

  3. Stream "The Search for Everything - Wave One" now.

New John Mayer is just what we needed after a long week.

After a brief hiatus from the spotlight, John Mayer is back in full swing. Back in November, Mayer reminded us how much we missed his smooth vocals and light guitar riffs when he dropped "Love on the Weekend", his first single in 2 years. He told fans to expect much more music in the new year, saying: “There are more songs than can fit on your standard sized album, but I do think next year is the year of more music coming than I’ve ever put out in one year.”

He seems to be delivering on his promise today, gifting the world with the first wave of his new album "The Search for Everything". The album teaser features "Love on the Weekend" and three brand new tracks: "Moving On and Getting Over", "Changing" and "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me". He delivered the news on social media, tweeting "These songs represent literally hundreds of hours of living inside of these little worlds" and promising that there is "more to come":

The EP was produced by many of the same people behind his 2006 album "Continuum" and is exactly the breezy romantic fare we've come to expect from the singer.

Stream the entire EP here or take a listen to the new tracks below, and trust me, you'll be left wanting more:

  4. It's the good news you needed today.

    Our prayers have been answered.

After a shaky performance at last year's awards show, Adele will return to the Grammy stage to blow us all away like only she can. Her performance was pretty much a sure-thing after a producer for the show confidently asserted that both Adele and Beyonce would perform: "We have every anticipation that both of them will be with us in February."

But now it's official. The Recording Academy tweeted out the announcement this morning (Jan. 20th), bringing some much-needed good news to an otherwise dark day:

Adele joins already-announced performers John Legend, Carrie Underwood, Metallica and Keith Urban. It's sure to be a big night for the 10-time Grammy winner, who could possibly go away with another 5 awards when the show airs February 12th from the Staples Center in LA.

    Beyonce, you next?

  5. Avril says #TheJokeIsOld.

Avril has finally had it with the Nickelback jokes.

Earlier this week, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg posted a series of comedic videos introducing Jarvis, the AI system he designed. One of the videos included a dig at Nickelback: when Mark asks Jarvis to play some good Nickelback music, the system (with the voice of Morgan Freeman) responds: "I'm sorry Mark, I'm afraid I can't do that. There are no good Nickelback songs."

While jokes at the expense of the famously unpopular Canadian band are extremely commonplace, this one did not go over well with Avril Lavigne, ex-wife of the band's lead singer Chad Kroeger. Even though they are no longer together, the pair are extremely amicable, and have even continued working on music together since their split. Avril therefore felt it necessary to come to the band's defence, composing a message directed at Mark. In the message posted to Twitter, she writes: "you're allowed your musical opinion, however your jab at Nickelback is in poor taste." She goes on to call Mark out for bullying the band: "you may want to consider being more responsible with promoting bullying, especially given what's going on in the world today."

She ends the message reminding Mark that Nickelback has sold over 50 million records and that #TheJokeIsOld. Mark Zuckerberg has yet to respond to Avril's comments.

I agree that bullying should never be tolerated, but Nickelback jokes are so widespread that it seems a little pointless to come after Mark for one little jab.

Thoughts? Do you consider Mark's joke a form of bullying?

  6. Let Mel C get you pumped to hit the dance floor tonight.

    Friday just got even better.

The world's collective heart broke when Melanie C, arguably the group's best vocalist, decided not to participate in the Spice Girls' upcoming reunion.
Alas, after a good cry, a dozen re-watchings of Spice World and a drunken proclamation that Girl Power is dead, it's time to accept it, move on with our lives and focus on the good. Although she may never dust off the old tracksuit ever again, Melanie C will soon be gracing us with a new album! Her 7th studio album Version of Me drops October 21st and she recently released the album's lead single, "Anymore", decidedly her most dance-ready offering in a while.

This morning (Oct. 7), Melanie C gave us another reason to smile when she visited The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and performed an acoustic rendition of Sia's "Cheap Trills". Melanie's stellar vocals will definitely get you in the mood to hit the dance floor this weekend.

    Check it out:

It will certainly be no easy task for Mel B, Emma and Geri to find someone worthy of filling Sporty's shoes when they begin holding auditions for her and Victoria's replacements.

  7. Céline puts a jazzy spin on Britney Spears' "Work Bitch".

It's official: Céline can do no wrong.

We already know that Céline Dion is talk-show gold from her hilarious turn impersonating Rihanna and Sia on The Tonight Show. Today, she dropped by Ellen to prove once again that she can sing absolutely anything and make it sound amazing.

Céline Dion Sounds Stronger Than Ever On P!nk-Penned Song “Recovering”: Listen

After chatting with Céline about her life following the loss of her husband René, the talk show host lightened things up with a game in which the queen of ballads reworked popular rap and pop songs. The result includes a jazzy rendition of Britney's "Work Bitch" ("Work Better" as the French Canadian star calls it), the only listenable version of "Shots" by LMFAO and some damn impressive scatting on Missy Elliot's "Work It".

All in favour of Céline officially adding "Work It" to her Vegas show setlist?

  8. The Queen of covers strikes again!

    Kelly's covers never disappoint.

Kelly Clarkson has been hosting weekly live streams on her Facebook page during which she announces which of her live covers she will be making available onto her website (today's releases were "Shake it Off" by Florence and the Machine and "Love Me Like a Man" by Bonnie Rait). She also occasionally belts out a tune or two, and today she went with a cover of Rihanna's next single "Love on the Brain".

She says took notice of the song when she heard Rihanna "singing the crap out of it" at this year's Billboard Music Awards and decided to add it to her repertoire of Riri covers. The American Idol alum is clearly a huge fan: she already has renditions of "Bitch Better Have My Money" and "Stay" under her belt.

Check out her cover below and if you feel like watching her ramble nervously for 20 minutes about Florence Foster Jenkins and pulling a prank on Maroon 5, then head over to her Facebook page to enjoy her full live stream.

How do you think it stacks up to Kelly's numerous other covers?

  9. Watch the new video off her upcoming album.

Once a Queen, always a Queen.

Idina Menzel has long been a force to be reckoned with on the Broadway stage, but only recently caught the attention of those outside the world of musical theatre when she lent her voice to the now iconic role of Queen Elsa in Disney's smash hit Frozen.

Her voice became a prominent fixture on Top 40 radio with the Oscar-winning and hugely popular song "Let it Go" off the movie's soundtrack basically becoming the soundtrack to everyone's lives. The movie and the song catapulted Idina into the spotlight and lead to a much-talked about performance at the Oscars. (Adele Dazeem anyone?)

Idina is now ramping up for the release of her brand new album simply titled "idina.", due in stores September 23rd. She dropped a track, along with its accompanying visual, from the new album today entitled "Queen of Swords". The song is an empowering pop tune that inspires you to, you guessed it, be a QUEEN.

The video, featuring Menzel singing in front of a background of twinkling lights, is a little lackluster. But as always, the Tony winner's vocals are anything but.

    Check it out:

This is the second glimpse Idina has given us into her new album. She debuted the track "I See You" on her Facebook last week and explained that her album is self-titled because she wants people to know her on a "first name basis."

  10. "Like millions of Americans, I am living with mental illness."

The Democratic National Convention kicked off last night in Philadelphia with Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders and more speaking out in support of Hillary Clinton.

Among Clinton's supporters was Demi Lovato, who appeared at the convention to perform her hit "Confident". Demi previously endorsed Hillary when she performed at one of her rallies back in January. She took the opportunity this time around to speak out about an important issue that's near to her heart: mental illness. Ahead of her performance, she delivered a short speech in which she shined a light on the importance of everyone having equal access to mental health care.

The singer, who has never shied away from sharing her struggle with mental illness, opened by admitting: "Like millions of Americans, I am living with mental illness." She went on to acknowledge that while she has been able to receive top-notch treatment for her illness, most people in America are not so lucky: "Unfortunately, too many Americans from all walks of life don’t get help, whether they fear the stigma or cannot afford treatment."

Demi closed by throwing her full support behind Clinton: "I'm proud to support a Presidential candidate who will fight to ensure all people living with mental health conditions get the care they need to lead fulfilling lives. That candidate is Hillary Clinton. Let's make her the next President of the United States of America." She then slid right into a powerful performance of "Confident".

Watch her speech and performance below:

Demi is of course not the only pop star to endorse Hillary for President. Other megastars expected to appear at the Convention this week are Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

  11. The video will premiere at the BBMAs on Sunday.

It's not much, but we'll take it.

Adele released a short teaser for her latest single's music video this morning. The preview shows the singer standing in a pretty dress against a black backdrop. While she stays stationary throughout the 16-second clip, Adele revealed at a concert last month that she does some dancing in the video, telling the crowd:

"And, um, this is actually my next single. And I just did my video for it, I know, I did one single and I'm like 'Thanks, bye. See you in ten years.' I did want to do one for When We Were Young — and we had an idea for it, but we couldn't get it right and I was like 'I can't do any old video for When We Were Young.' Because that's like my favorite song I've ever written. But for this one we've got a really cool video, we did it on Monday…And you'll not believe it, but I'm DANCING in it. Can you believe it? Lost all of my inhibitions."

According to Billboard, the video will premiere at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards next Sunday (May 22nd). With performances by Britney Spears, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and tons more big names, Sunday night is sure to be a huge night in music!

The single artwork was also released this week:

  12. sia-coachella

The enigmatic Aussie is taking her show on the road!

After teasing some big news last week, Sia delivered this morning announcing a 22-date tour across North America, in support of her latest album 'This is Acting'. The 'Nostalgic for the Present' tour kicks off in Seattle on September 29th and makes its way across the U.S. and Canada, before winding down in Austin, Texas on November 6th.

Sia will be joined by opening acts Miguel and Aluna George.

This will be Sia's first tour since 2011 when she considered retiring from performing altogether. She has limited her live appearances to performances on television since then, reportedly because she suffers from panic attacks. She told NME last year that there were offers on the table to go on tour and that if she received an offer that was tempting enough, she just might have to take it: "I guess there's a number, if I'm worth that number then I'll go out on tour." Looks like she found her magic number!

We will have to wait and see if she will continue her tradition of covering her face with wigs for the entirety of the tour, and if regular collaborator Maddie Ziegler will make an appearance. Either way, if her extremely well-received Coachella performance is anything to go by, she'll certainly put on one hell of a show.

  13. The new trailer is giving us horror-movie vibes.

    Untitled design (15)

    Beyoncé is pulling us in.

If you haven't cleared your schedule for April 23rd yet, DO IT NOW. Beyoncé's album film 'Lemonade' is set to premiere next Saturday at 9 pm EST on HBO. A tantalizingly short teaser was previously released for the much-anticipated event. Today, Beyoncé showed us a little more.

A minute long trailer aired on HBO tonight. In typical Beyoncé fashion, the trailer is a compilation of artistic, and somewhat creepy visuals (and too few shots of Bey herself), accompanied by a deep, ambiguous voiceover.

The "Formation" singer leaves us wanting more, uttering: "The past and the present merge to lead us here." "Why can't you see me? You're the love of my life."

The trailer ends with Bey pleading: "Pull me in, pull me in, pull me in".

If this teaser is anything to go by, it seems that Lemonade might be going in a darker direction than what Beyoncé's done in the past.

    Watch it below:

  14. kelly-rowland-new-music-bh

Kelly unleashes a fun dance track just in time for summer.

It's been a while since we've heard new music from Miss Rowland. She released her last album in 2013, and since then she's been focusing on other projects, including spearheading a new reality show "Chasing Destiny" to find the next superstar girl group and acting on the TV series "Empire".

Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Are Reuniting!

The former Destiny's Child announced earlier this year that she's working on a new album and that she has recorded a whopping 45 songs to date. Back in October, she released "Dumb", the first taste of what's to come, and now we have another new track from Kelly! "Gimme Love", an easy dance song, was released as part of her campaign for Seagram's Escapes signature flavors.

  15. Separately, obviously.

Coachella has a tendency to bring out some of the biggest stars in the world for a weekend of debauchery.

Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Katy Perry were just a few of the A-list celebs who were in attendance this year. Here's a run-down of what they got into this weekend:

    Katy Perry
Katy was spotted at Coachella with boyfriend Orlando Bloom, and according to eyewitnesses, the couple really packed on the PDA. According to E!, festival-goers saw the two, who have been romantically linked since the Golden Globes in January, making out during The Kills' set. A source told E! that they "looked happy" and "were very close". Onlookers also caught Katy supposedly smoking a joint while on Orlando's shoulders. In addition to The Kills, the pair also reportedly watched Ellie Goulding's set.

Riri reignited some old romance rumours when she was spotted with Leonardo Dicaprio at Neon Carnival, an Osheaga after-party. The pair have been spotted together at various events over the years, never failing to launch the media into a frenzy of rumors that they are more than friends. Romance or not, they look damn good together.

    Taylor Swift
Last but not least, Taylor Swift, never one to miss out on a chance to party with her squad, debuted a new look at the festival. She showed off a new bleach-blonde do, a look which she cleverly coined "Bleachella", and took in some live music with some of her usual crew: Haim, Lorde and Jack Antonoff.

  16. Find out what the pair named their first child!

Singer John Legend and model, TV host Chrissy Teigen have a new addition to their family!

On Thursday (April 14th) the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Luna Simone Stephens. The couple, who have been married for close to 3 years, shared the happy news with the world today through social media. The new mother posted a picture of the baby's weight (6 lb 11 oz) with the caption: "She's here! Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy." John also shared the birth announcement tweeting that the couple "couldn't be happier!"

  17. kanye-west-coachella

Kanye was seen, but not heard at Coachella over the weekend.

Kesha was not the only star to make a surprise cameo at Coachella this weekend, Kanye also got in on the action, jumping in on not 1, but 2 different sets. The always controversial rapper seemingly cannot resist the spotlight, as he joined A$AP Rocky toward the end of his set, to perform The Life of Pablo track "Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1". Unfortunately for West, A$AP Rocky's set went late, and as a result Kanye's mic was not on for most of the performance and the two rappers were forced to leave the stage following the song.

Check out clips from his performance, where pretty much all you can hear is A$AP blurting out every 3rd or 4th word of Kanye's verse, while he silently raps beside him:

A video posted by WorldstarHipHop (@worldstar) on

Kanye graced the crowd with his presence again later on during Jack Ü's performance. It was another silent performance for West who simply walked on stage while his song "Power" blared over the speakers, stood still for a few seconds, then left the stage.

  19. Watch her return to the stage in the midst of her legal troubles.

    Untitled design (4)

In the midst of her painful legal battle, Kesha returned to the stage last night at one of the biggest festivals in the world.

In an incredibly sad turn of events, Kesha has been unable to put out new music as a result of a contract binding her to producer Dr. Luke, whom she has accused of sexual assault. The legal fight between the two continues to battle on, but last night at Coachella, thousands of fans were able to witness her return to what she loves doing: performing.

She joined Zedd during his set to perform "True Colors", a track from the DJ's second studio album. Zedd had previously shared his support for the singer, tweeting an offer to collaborate with her, an offer that she apparently accepted.

    Watch Kesha's performance below:

Good to see you back on stage Kesha!

  20. Plus, watch Nick perform "Champagne Problems" and show off his biceps in a pool boy skit.

Neither Nick Jonas nor Tove Lo asked for space last night on SNL.

For the second time in his career, Nick Jonas served as musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night (April 17th). He took to the stage first with Tove Lo to perform their stellar duet "Close". The pair gave it their all, but was I the only one secretly hoping they would bring out a couple chairs and recreate the song's music video on stage?

Later on in the show, Nick continued to deliver his sexy falsetto on the newest off his upcoming album: "Champagne Problems". Check out his performances below:

Nick also served as eye candy in 2 of the show's skits. As if stolen right out of our dreams, watch him play the hot gardener and woo host Julia Louis Dreyfus in "Pool Boy":

  21. Their colourful new video has got us missing the glory days of MTV.

Like many of us, Good Charlotte long for the iconic musical landscape of the early 2000s.

After a nearly 5 year hiatus, Good Charlotte announced last March their plans to reunite and release a new album. They have since released the first single from their upcoming album Youth Authority and booked tour dates across the US.

The video for the album's second single, "40 oz. Dream" was released today, and it is a nostalgic love letter to a simpler time in music. With the help of a colouring book, the pop-punk band reflect on how much things have changed since they first came on the scene almost 2 decades ago. They fondly remember watching Easy-E, Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre on MTV, lament the rise of selfies and ponder why no one plays real instruments anymore.

The Josh Madden-directed video (brother to members Joel and Benji) is brimming with the band's signature humour and pop culture references. Guitarist Benji Madden revealed to Rolling Stone: “It’s got all the sarcasm and humor we’ve always loved, and lots of affection for the past and present. As a band that formed in 1996, it’s a fun moment to be welcomed back so warmly. We’re very happy to have found our place in 2016.”

  22. Watch performances from The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes and more at the Canadian Grammys.

The Canadian equivalent of the Grammys were held in Calgary last night. Here's what you missed.

Every year, The Juno Awards bring together the biggest names north of the border to celebrate the best in Canadian music.

It was a big night for The Weeknd who took home 5 awards, including Artist of the Year. His album "Beauty Behind the Madness" took home Album of the Year and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, while his smash single "Can't Feel My Face" earned him Single of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Justin Bieber was also recognized, winning the Juno Fan Choice Award and Pop Album of the Year for "Purpose". Bieber appeared via video to accept his award, and the audience was apparently not too pleased that he chose to attend the iHeart Awards, instead of the Junos, as they audibly booed following his acceptance video. It's not the first time Bieber's been booed and it probably won't be the last:

Other notable winners include Adele's 25 for International Album of the Year, Alessia Cara for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Walk Off the Earth for Group of the Year. You can see a full list of last night's winners here.

Check out some of last night's most noteworthy performances:

The Weeknd - "Acquainted" and "Might Not"

    Shawn Mendes - "Stitches"

Lights and Sam - "Running With the Boys"

Alessia Cara - "Here" and "Wild Things"

Shawn Hook - "Sound of Your Heart"

  23. Plus, she discusses how she channeled her pain to create her new album.

Gwen visited GMA this morning to perform and talk about how she turned her pain into a Number 1 album.

Following her appearance on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, Gwen brought her joyful performance of 'Make Me Like You' to Good Morning America. In addition to performing, Gwen sat down for an interview where she described her feel-good track about her relationship with Blake Shelton as "one of my favorite songs to write".

Although her latest single is a happy declaration of love, the same cannot be said for all the songs on her new album This is What the Truth Feels Like, which also documents her painful divorce from Gavin Rossdale. The "Misery" singer recounted how she used her pain to create her album and reveals that she is grateful for what she's been through: "Because if I didn't do that, then I wouldn't have this. And so you have to be grateful for all of it."

Her album went on to debut at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 but Gwen insists that when she first entered the studio, creating a commercially successful album was the farthest thing from her mind. All she hoped to do was tell her truth: "I don't care about anything except for getting this out, and, like, healing, and being honest, and real, and truthful."

  25. Katy says of the upcoming performance "MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED".katy-perry-prismatic

    Katy's goin' country.

It's been a minute since we've heard from Miss Perry. Aside from the occasional performance in support of Hillary Clinton, Katy's mostly been keeping quiet on the music front.

If you're like me and you've been yearning for some more Katy in your life, you're in luck. The "Roar" singer is returning to the stage on April 3rd to perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards. She will be joining country music legend Dolly Parton for a special duet, in addition to presenting the iconic country singer with the Tex Ritter Award for her TV movie "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors".

Both ladies took to social media to announce the news, with Dolly calling Katy "amazing and oh so talented" and the pop superstar showing her excitement tweeting : "MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED?? I shall remember though that I am but one sequin on this living legend's costume!"

No word yet on what song the pair will perform together. The ACMs will air on CBS at 8 pm EST.
